I mean the movie does not need my mere compliment given its renowned reputation... but I simply have to say it really is a masterpiece.
It was my second time watching the movie - the first time was two and a half years ago and I did not really get it, but thankfully, I thoroughly enjoyed it this time.
First of all, it is absolutely aesthetically pleasing. Plus, the pacing is perfect - properly compact but everything that needs to be told is narrated.
The movie also manages to include so many different elements in such a short amount of time: war, discussion of humanity, romance, of course, art, relationship among love, loneliness and sexuality, and many more. More importantly, each element is also a backdrop to the other, prompting the audience to ponder on them to a deeper level.
Meanwhile, the movie is also an effortless comedy with bits and pieces of sarcasm which paradoxically tells a sad story.
