First off I want to say that I was quite reluctant to watch this film. I was 13 or 14 when this movie came out and for whatever reason I didn't think it would be something I'd like. I didn't really know anything about the plot and just didn't care...how foolish I was. I even owned the damn movie and it just sat on the shelf (my father bought it). Anyway, when I was about 17 or 18 I was at a friends house and we were discussing movies and we got to talking about how Almost Famous was one of her favorite movies and I said I had never seen it and wasn't really interested in it(which is odd for me because I own 100's of films and film is basically all I care about in life). Anyway she gave me a look and said we had to watch it that moment. She put it on and let me tell you, this movie changed my life. I know this is pretty late for a review on this movie, being that it has been 9 years since it's release, but I feel it needs yet another one. This is definitely one of my favorite movies and it always will be. It is an excellent view on teenage life, rock music, the 70's and the rest of life in general. Every actor/actress in this fantastic ensemble cast brings their A game and the only complaint that I have is that this movie isn't 4 hours long. I could watch these characters over and over again and you wish that they were real people that you could meet and be friends with forever. If you have not seen this movie and are making the same mistake I made, get off your a$$ and rent or buy it...now, you will not be sorry. This movie will slap a smile on your face for days. It is one hell of a feel good flick and should never be underestimated. Enjoy!
WALL-E as most people have said is an excellent film. It is a work of art, plain and simple. For a mainstream film, a Disney film at that it is unbelievably original. I am a huge fan of many Disney and Pixar films for the sheer good feeling that you get from watching them, but WALL-E is the first to evoke a full range of feelings (Toy Story 1 & 2 are a close 2nd). When watching this movie you'll laugh, cry, think about the world and how it works and so forth. This is one of the recent animated films that actually got me choked up...a lot. For an animated film to not have any speaking for about the first 30 minutes and still captivate the whole world (toddlers to adults) is an amazing thing. This film is an absolute must for any fan of Disney, Pixar or just film in general. Do yourself a favor and go buy or rent this movie immediately you will not regret it, and if you have the means check it out on blu-ray...stunning. No one should miss out on this fantastic movie.
I sat down to watch this movie a couple years ago because I had somehow never seen it, even though I own and have seen a ridiculous amount of horror movies. I was told by a friend that it was a horrible piece of trash, but i liked watching the previous 8 films(although some aren't the greatest slashers ever made)so i sat down hoping to enjoy this as much as the other sequels. All I have to say is that not only is this one of the worst horror movies ever made, not only is it the worst Jason movie ever made, but it may be one of the worst movies ever made. I hate this movie with a passion and I am so glad they left it out of the Friday box set(for those of you who don't know, it stops with part 8, which should have been the final Friday, but no....Sean Cunningham had to f--- it up. The first 8 films had one long continuous storyline, 8 had a good conclusion to the series. Jason Goes to Hell comes along and decides that the entire series doesn't matter and they're just gonna do their own thing without it making sense. Not for true horror fans, not for anyone.
STAY AWAY.
Watch the first 8 and then forget the rest....
