I've seen some other reviews that I do not agree with. Anyone who is a Tobe Hooper fan should get a kick out of this film. 1 review called it a ripoff of the 1999 film Lake Placid which centered around a large crocodile and maybe in many ways a similar plot which was released a year prior. But keep in mind, Tobe Hooper in many ways pioneered this crocodile-themed horror trend to begin with, with his 1976 film Eaten Alive. And if you are a fan of that film, you should enjoy some of the references. So sure, Hooper seemingly ripped off Lake Placid loosely, moreso riding the trend wave. Also Jace Anderson is part of this, he was on board with other Tobe Hooper films like Mortuary and Toolbox Murders. So I think fans of any of those films should enjoy this one as well.
The film does have some I guess "teen humor" and is a bit cheesy and they go a little bit for the scream scare tactic at some points, as other reviews have stated, but overall a fun story and an entertaining film. The CGI is not good, but this is a direct-to-video film, so keep that in mind. Basically a 2000 cheap b-movie by a legendary film director. Great to see Tobe Hooper circle back to crocodile films and get back to his old ways... kind of.

Im Schloß der blutigen Begierde. This movie deserves a much higher overall rating, imo. Written by Jess Franco and Adrian Hoven, directed by the latter. To me, this film is quite similar to the 1971 film Lady Frankenstein. By this I mean the eerie castle and the mad scientist elements with reviving the dead etc. However instead of Rosalba Neri being the lead female actress who reveals it all, as in Lady Frankenstein, instead it's the equally stunning Janine Reynaud. Now I've seen the other reviews and I mostly disagree with them.
The film is interesting throughout, minus all the close-up footage of surgery being done. This is a German film from 1968, so to see such gore and nudity is pretty shocking for the time and country of origin. You'll see a lot of elements that are also present in Italian and Spanish Giallo films, and Spanish Gothic and even slashers. Any true fans of Jess Franco and his style of b-movies, and/or Gothic type films, this movie is a must-watch. It's currently available for free on Tubi as well.

This film is strange in many ways, and a lot more storyline then you typically get from most Franco films. A mixture of good acting and some very goofy scenes that actually fit in. Some common Franco traits, such as nudity, smut, perversion etc. The film I watched is far longer than what's listed here, running at very close to 2hrs.
