The Heat (2013)
I can't help bit think if people who leave reviews have actually ever seen another movie before
I want to start by saying I have never seen a bad Sandra bullock movie before and I've never seen a good Melissa Mccarthy movie so there was, in my mind a 50/50 chance this could have been worth watching. Its not. Firstly all jokes are explained, in one scene a cool quote is used and then the cop gets stuck in traffic -hilarious I know - then another cop replies that was almost so cool. We know this. Jokes don't need to be explained unless your worried your movie isn't good and needs EVERY joke to hit. It was a bad joke and explaining it makes it worse. This is one of many examples but I don't want to spoil this for all the people who expect anything from this. The acting is forced by the main characters. I would say that every other person in this film including the extras with no lines had better performances than the two Co stars. I would genuinely like to see a top five movies of all time list from some people who rated this 6/10 and above. Predictable Hollywood movie with no substance whatsoever. 1* because I want to give bullock the benifit of the doubt this time.
Fubar (2018)
Worst British movie or at least top 5
The description for this movie was shaun of the dead meets the inbetweeners.... its neither and cannot even come close to being compared to either of these movies. It was as if two twelve year olds got together at a sleepover and came up with the god awful film. The acting seems lazy, the script terrible and the story is just wierd. A pointless hour and a half wasted. I am a great advocate of British film making which is why I watched the whole film so I can give a fair review. My advice is.... don't waste your time and watch Shawn of the dead or the inbetweeners. Only got 2* because its not the worst British film I've seen but it is definitely the second worst.
Rat Race (2001)
What a great, timeless movie
I watched this back in the day, loved it, watched it 20years later still good, if not better... and I think it got funnier. Just one joke after another, well crafted script really catches you off guard. One laugh after another. Really great. A movie for all ages And behind it all a really important message that all ages can learn from. The acting is also superb and some absolutely superp talented comedians. This film has alot of depth and I think personally comedy movies have lost this now. This movie has aged like a fine wine and Is good to watch with a glass of wine. When people ask me what my favourite comedy kovies are of all time it's this in top 3 now. 9.9 out of 10.
Candyman (2021)
Excellent
An extremely refreshing twist on the horror movie genre, plenty of twists and turns. Usually I have a lot of emotions during an horror movie and I did this time, just different emotions, this is not just a 'slasher' movie, its a look into a broken system that still, as far as I know is broken. Horror movies have gotten stagnant over the past few years, then candyman came out. I believe and hope that this will set in motion new horror films that have the same depth and heart as this movie did. Acting is OK, not the greatest. One of the gory scenes in particular is very unrealistic. Overall a very strong 7* 7.8. Would recommend.
Apostle (2018)
Fantastically disturbing
Very very good movie, well made. The locations chosen for filming are just spectacular. Acting in this movie is the best I've seen in any movie, ever. There is more to this than meets the eye. Very deep meaningful performances. I made the mistake of watching this while eating, don't make the same mistake. A must watch. Strong 8*. The only let down for me, is it was too long. Over 2 hours. But it's a must see, so be prepared to be thinking about this for a long time to come. In your dreams. A few 'cheesy' momements but that's to be expected. You really get sucked in and feel like your are right there in the early 1900's. Enjoy.
Aftermath (2021)
Too much story?
This was a fantastic film, very well done. Acting was flawless, a definate must see. Fantastic strong 7*
There was almost too much story, but there is a reason for this, you will see when you watch.
Alone (2020)
Superhuman serial killer ?
Hmm.... were to begin..
Acting was poor, everything seemed very purposefully done like the killer taking his time, to get from marker A to B. To the point we're it was definitely noticable. Story was interesting but could have been executed better. I did find myself at some points actually shouting at the main character to run, jump, escape! Which I've never done before so it definitely pulls you into the story. Average 4*
Event Horizon (1997)
Gory sci fi horror
Firstly the CGI in this movie is fantastic, way ahead of its time. This would blow peoples minds in 1997, it blows my mind in 2022. Great movie, a few 'cheesy' moments, but thats to be expected. Very gory. Very disturbing concept and really well done. A MUST watch for movie fans. Fantastic move 90 minutes not like these terrible 3 hour movies from this decade. Really glad i watched this. Strong 8* 8.9*
Superstore (2015)
I love this series!
This series is outstanding, very funny. I have not seen another series that has this format. So its origional.
Ive watched every episode more than once.
Love it!
The Guilty (2021)
Broken people save broken people
This movie shines a light on the police force and how broken the system is, maybe this is unintentional. I dont know. Watching this it pulls you into the story and you feel every bad emotion you can think of, anger, frustration, helplessness, relief, trauma and pain. The acting is excellent, way too good for the bad script writing. But its worth a watch. Low 6* 6.2*. I was wanting it to end alot quicker than it did. It was dragged out. But watch till the end.
Kadaver (2020)
I like the very last 5 seconds
The movie has a very clever concept. And is executed reasonably well. I like how it starts, throws you right into the story then right into the ending then, over. This is how it must be done in norway.... i like it alot. Ive seen many 2 hour, 3 hour movies that would have been great made with this same structure. But it wasnt my favorite film. Not the worst but close to the worst. Average 3*
Rattlesnake (2019)
Clever concept, badly executed 😉
Worst mother of the century goes to.....
This is an extremely clever concept for a movie because, even if this movie was a -10* you would watch to see if she does it, even if that means watching it all the way through to the end. Not really much else to say, acting was below average. Was shot nicely not great but ok. Worth a watch if there is absolutely nothing else to watch. Really makes you think about mortality so if thats not your thing, probably best to avoid this. Strong 4*
Hostiles (2017)
Just because a movie is beatufully shot and long, very long. Does not make it good.
Epic, must see.... this is definarely not epic and definately wouldnt have bothered me if i never seen this movie, ever, my whole life. I got absolutely nothing from this, apart from how beautifully shot this movie is. This film seemed to me like the director never once had his audience in concideration. What happened to 90 minute movies anyway? Why do i have to put 132 minutes aside to watch the slowest movie.... ever. I genuinely couldnt wait for it to finish. People talking about the ending in the reviews is the only reason i stayed till the end.... i wish i never. Honestly dont bother watching this, i mean why? I genuinely feel like someone stole my horse. I feel robbed even though i never paid. You know a movie is bad when i didnt pay but still feel robbed. No point. 4* is a fair rating really 3.6 * but rounded it up out of respect for bale mostly. THIS IS NOT A GOOD MOVIE.
The Unforgivable (2021)
I have yet to see a bad Sandra Bullock movie
This movie is definately one of the best movies ive seen for a long. Long time. Powerful, moving, thought provoking, entertaining. This is such a special film. I would urge you to give this a shot. I would do the same for my sister. I think most people would, that is why this film really struck a chord with me and if you have a sister this with strike a chord with you aswell.... guaranteed.
AWSOME 9.5 *
No One Gets Out Alive (2021)
9.9999 out of 10
This is as close as is gets to the perfect horror film. Atmosphere is errie and creepy, acting is fantastic, many twists and turns, Someone said it right, this is an unexpexted gem, searching netflix for something scary to watch and i found this. I am so glad i did, it is an excellent piece of art that film and horror fans should definately see, i promise you wont be dissapointed. Very strong 9* possibly the best horror film ive ever seen.
Till Death (2021)
As predictable as it gets
How do i write a review without spoilers? There is so many holes in the plot its like swiss cheese. Completely predictable. Alot happens in this movie but it also seems like nothing happens at all.... the main character is a villain and a 'hero' all in one ... more villain in my opinion. Just a standard movie nothing special. Strong 2* but i wouldnt waste your time.
Surge (2020)
Thank god for british cinema
This is a great example of british film making at its BEST! This is an extremely well acted movie. This film could have not been done by anyone else. Thats a fact. The main charactor is perfect for this role. If someone asked for me to recomend a british movie to watch, i will now tell them surge is a great example. Strong 8*
Girl in the Picture (2022)
Anything less than 10 starts is an insult
This is an extremely moving, passionate and well made documentary.
You can't give this anything less than 10/10, that's it.
I was hooked all the way through and you will be too.
The Woman in the Window (2021)
Very Very Good.
This movie is extremely well made and griping to the last second. Its a fantastic work of art that needs appreciating. This is the kind of movie that could change your life after watching. It is great. 7.5* very very good.
Under the Shadow (2016)
The first middle Eastern movie I've ever seen.
I appreciate the time and effort that went into this movie, you can really feel it. I appreciate the look into different cultures and the chaos that some people in the world have to deal with on a daily basis. But that's about it. The unending slow burn is relentless. A couple of jump scares, which did catch me off guard. This film might be more profound to someone of the Muslim faith. But for me this is a boring and slow film. My eyes have been opened to middle Eastern film making and I will be looking for more hopefully better movies from the middle east in future l. Weak 3*
Mine (2016)
Should have taken the shot.....
Good movie, definitely worth a watch if you like 'lone survivor' type movies. From the beginning I was rooting against the main character... by the end of the movie.... can't say how I felt about the main character by the end.... the acting is good, really nothing bad to say about this film, it just wasn't great. Not a mind blowing war movie. Its about a man who steps on a mine.. sound good then watch 🤣
The Man from Toronto (2022)
Boring.
I found my attention wavering after the first 5 minutes. Its like the film company spent so much money and time to get this cast, so they wanted to give them as much screen time as possible EVEN IF it doesn't help to move the story on. Sometimes when it's an "all-star " cast it just doesn't work. Sadly this definitely didn't work for me. I will have to think twice before I watch another Kevin Hart movie..... sadly.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)
I enjoyed this movie
I thought Chris rock done a really great job acting in this role. This movie is like watching all the Goriest parts from all the saw movies, made into one movie. Its sick...... but in a good way, if you like this sort of thing, if you seen the saw movies then why not give this a go. Strong 6*
Unbroken (2014)
Incredible story....
I'm not sure if it's the cast, director or producer, but this film was missing the special ingredients that make a true story movie good/great. There was so many filler scenes (unnecessary scenes that don't need to be shared with the audience) which made this move almost two and a half hours long. This could have been a great 90 minute movie, but it wasn't. I found my attention wavering throughout. This is not a fair representation of this INCREDIBLE story of survival. Out of respect of the story I give this a strong 4*. If this wasn't a true story and if I wasn't a veteran myself this movie would be rated ALOT lower.
John Henry (2020)
Boring....
The best thing about this movie is the soundtrack which is great! This film is like a really bad, cheap attempt at creating a Quentin Tarantino movie. There is some unintentional funny moments. The story is hard to follow. The trailers and descriptions of this movie build it up to be an epic crazy adventure with plenty action..... this is not true it is unbelievably uneventful and boring. There is a build up throughout that leads to nothing, honestly don't waste your time watching this. If I could give this no stars I would. Really weak 1*
