This has the look of quality drama and the setting in Wales ensures some lovely scenery.
The acting is fair to very good in most cases.
The idea that we start with the murder and know who the victim is is quite novel but then the problems begin.
We have to endure 15 days worth of action before the admittedly surprising denouement.
Even over 4 episodes it feels at times that the story is stretched a little too much and one's interest can flag at times because of that.
The setting is gloomy throughout and the characters are, with a few exceptions, the most unpleasant bunch of people you hope you never have to encounter. All human frailty is on display.
I found the scenes of animal cruelty unnecessary and I'm sure will upset a lot of people.
In short,it's 4 episodes of unrelenting gloom and you will probably want to turn to comedy as an antidote,if you last the course.

This has all the right ingredients...solid heroes,a selection of suitably evil bad guys and superior visual effects for a tv show.
There is much to enjoy though I do have one criticism and that is diction,or rather a lack of it...it's an affliction that seems to be common amongst modern actors...the main offender is Mary Bett Rickards who plays Felicity Smoak.
Hers is a poor performance generally. Her dialogue is laden with scientific and technical language that she delivers at lightening speed which renders it largely garbled and unintelligible.
She is not the only offender though muttering lines seems to be the modern way which is a shame.
Not all of the episodes are of equal quality and I did find the constant flash backs distracting at times which spoiled the flow of the story...These are minor quibbles about what is really a very expensive and glossy series.
One positive aspect which really stood out was in the handling of the character Curtis...he had issues with his husband but him being gay was treated as everyday and nothing out of the ordinary...a reflection of how such things should be in real life.
I did enjoy 'Arrow' but a keen sense of hearing is essential...along with the subtitles.

This is an extremely well made film. Perhaps a little too long but it never pulls it's punches.
The performances are first rate from everyone involved.
What stands out above all else is the sheer psychological and emotional violence perpetrated on the young people involved by people who have the arrogance to believe they and they alone have the answers to everything and use God as a weapon leading to in one case a real and terrible tragedy.
The real horror comes from the realisation that the events depicted are still talking place in the US and here in Britain.
The UK government has indicated it's intention to criminalise conversion therapies and it's time for it to stop dragging it's feet and act in order to prevent more young people form being exposed to such cruelty.
I'm sure that religion gives comfort to many but not here where it's clear aim is nothing more than pure evil...I kneel down and thank God for 'Heartstopper'.
