This is another movie in the 'Predator' series with good cinematography and it's indeed a good piece of art. It also looks like it went through a good marketing campaign. However, as someone with a strong interest in nature, ethnology, anthropology and history, I couldn't help but notice some glaring inaccuracies that became laughable after a while. The body language of the actors very much reflects 21st-century industrialized societies, as well as many dialogues between the tribe members. The perfect English pronunciation by a member of an 18th-century Comanche tribe adds to this. How can the hands of a young woman from such a tribe look like they've just come out of a beauty parlor? Why would she fight with unfixed hair all the time? How is it possible to see an extremely aggressive lion recklessly attacking humans? What about a bear? What about seeing them within days, rather than weeks or months? What about a hare that can't see its back while a wolf approaches it so close? Can she fall into quicksand in just one step without first treading on softer terrain? Can't she smell the muddy terrain from 200 yards away? Come on, how can she prepare and wave a rope of that length within minutes? I'm sure that ethnologists and anthropologists interested in Indian culture will find many more. Overall, while the movie had some redeeming qualities, these inaccuracies made it difficult for me to take seriously. It was also interesting to see critics praising this movie so much without citing these, which reflects how mankind has distanced himself from nature and the natural.
Exceptional performance from Haluk Bilginer playing the main character. Also good acting performances from Sebnem Bozoklu and Hümeyra, especially. Visual side, cinematography and the overall production is also good. The story is interesting, but the details and the scenario couldn't surpass the Turkish drama clichés. Some characters, events and situations are not realistic at all. That will be more apparent of course for those audience who know how things work in Turkey, especially in Istanbul. Unnecessary social messages, baseless philosophical remarks can be found throughout the story. It was entertaining nevertheless. It would not be so for me without Haluk Bilginer's performance though.
Cem Yilmaz has been the most outstanding comedian during the last 10 years in Turkey and he continues to do so. What he did so far is a great achievement and Turkish people knows that. He primarily makes stand-up shows but he is also busy with writing and acting; in which he is very successful in my opinion.
The movie here looks like it's all around Cem Yilmaz, but we must say that the other people of the movie did their job just as successful.
This a sci-fi and a comedy movie. Cem Yilmaz plays a typical Turkish guy who runs a carpet shop. He is also busy with producing fake UFO photos. Then he is taken by an alien spaceship and transported to the planet Gora.
The situation of a typical Turkish guy in a sci-fi environment was quite funny for me, but also I guess that a non-Turkish viewer would find it just as funny. Other characters are acting quite well. Ceku (Ozge Ozberk) is gorgeous.
This is the biggest budget used in a Turkish movie so far, so don't expect poor scenes behind.
