To say that "Fahrenheit 9/11" will be the most important film of this year seems asinine, and yet ... "Fahrenheit 9/11" will be the most important film of this year.
The screening last night at 7.30 was sold out; in fact, all the screenings for the rest of the day were sold out and even the ones for TODAY were selling out YESTERDAY.
You must, your ought, you need to see this movie, whether you like Michael Moore or detest him. This is democracy and free speech in action; this is patriotism at its most pure and vital and necessary. This is what it means to be an American. How DARE anyone say ANYTHING, whether good or bad, about this film without seeing it. Ignorance, not terrorism, is our most dangerous enemy.
Simply brilliant, simply powerful. This will be looked upon as a landmark of cinema.

gosh, this is the worst film i've seen since i rented 'the swarm!' absolutely no surprises to this movie ... after you've seen the first 5 minutes, you basically know where the rest of the movie is headed. the story is illogical even for a horror film and keeps changing its 'rules' as it goes along. the shame is that such fine actors like sam neill (who does remarkably well under the circumstances), david warner, and john glover are wasted so shamelessly. cheesy dialogue too. only a knowingly throwaway bit from charlton heston & sam neill's nonchalant performance prevent me from giving this movie a 1. just rent 'videodrome' or 'lost highway' if you want to see this sort of thing done right.
An elderly retired civil servant in Rome is about to be forced onto the streets due to the loss of his pension, with only his little dog to comfort him. I'm not even a dog lover and this movie STILL got to me. I rented this on video when I was in high school and my mom ended up watching it with me. The ending (which I won't spoil for those who haven't seen it yet) is the only time I can remember when we have both been crying at the same time during a movie. This is truly a beautiful film and I have to see again soon.
