This story plays out like a Facebook group of Karen's who wanted to write a movie.
This story does what many brand name marketing companies do when trying to support something unsupportable. They piggyback the value of something they pretend to emulate. Like a car company that compares the sportiness of it's vehicle to an Olympic athlete. This movie piggybacks what the Mayflower was, without really understanding what occurred when the Mayflower traveled to the US, and why.
Using phrases like 'the consensus of scientists have a political agenda'. This movie values conspiracy over substance.
This writing is vacuous and without depth. It's cast is bunch of people who think they are more virtuous against a made up bad society; The villains are 1 dimensional, and the heroes provide no real saving grace.

A movie with more money spent on CGI than acting, ... but there wasn't much there to begin with.
I always prefer to start out with the positives, but I really can't find any. I would swear that this was some school project that they were able to get published to the streaming services. The sets and props were abysmal ... did no one even try? Did they just walk around their house for 10 minutes and just grab things willy-nilly? The acting was just above what I have seen inn high school, so maybe this was a Community College assignment? Not sure if they created the script over a binging weekend, or they just made it up as they went along. The CGI effects were passable for something presented 10-15 years ago, so don't expect much.
After some debate, I will give a 2 star for the effort, but that second star is a big gift.

We just finished watching "Mayflower 2" as a family. Our 8 year old Elijah exclaimed at the end "That is my new favourite movie." We watched the first part on a Saturday morning and had to pause it to take care of some other stuff. Our 10 yr old and 13 yr old were so hooked by the first 45 minutes that they kept begging to finish it.
The Mayflower 2 is a very ambitious scifi film with a ridiculously low budget, which means lots of volunteer work. Consequently not all of the cast's acting ability is on the same level, but there are some really strong performances.
I was very impressed with the special effects and CGI for the budget. Rick Holets wrote a very strong and moving musical score which enhances the whole film!
The film explores the topic of persecution and when the church should submit to the earthly authorities, and when being faithful to our calling requires civil disobedience.
Persecution is being endured by the church all over the world, and it seems to be increasing here in North America. So these issues will become even more relevant as time passes.
Mayflower 2 provides lots of great points for discussion that should lead to some great conversation after watching.
This movie required countless hours of sacrifice, perseverance and dedication, I applaud the producers for their vision and determination to bring it fruition!

A wholesome movie about Christians responding to persecution in a world trying to suppress a biblical worldview. Original story with good visual effects. Two thumbs up from the kids.
