What a waste of 1.2 hrs! Bad acting, bad sound track, bad everything. This movie just killed, in a bad way, this beautiful story, even the horse couldn't save it. you don't need a big budget to make this movie, you can bring anonymous actors that can really act but when you bring forgotten actors who never made it along with anonymous actors who are really bad and add to it awful voice-over, out of place music, which is also really bad by itself regardless of the movie, you get a huge disaster. even my kids couldn't buy it and left in the middle of it. Luke Perry, where did he come from? he looks so out of it, with long redundant shots on him while he is "contemplating" with no purpose, OMG. Bruce Davison, why humiliate yourself at your age? well, i guess the money wasn't bad. And the young actors, all of them, I wish they all to find themselves another profession because acting is not for you. really.

Let me just say I loved the book and the previous movies and was really looking forward to this. But I just could not relate to a 30-year-old trying to play a 15-year-old girl. Really? Maybe it was the actresses fault but I believe it was a major mistake in casting. What? Are there no young actresses anymore? I honestly didn't get past the first 10 minutes. Maybe this is not a fair review but I was looking to get lost in a sappy girl and her horse story and it just was not even the tiniest bit believable. The whole introductory sequence seemed very stilted and forced. The horse is pretty at least. Oh, the actress Sarah Ann Schultz is lovely but so obviously NOT a teenager. She appeared to be older than her mom even. A pity because I imagine the story was exactly what I was looking for but I couldn't get past her age. Two thumbs down for me.

what a bomb, man. don't even know how this lousy script was approved into production. terrible screenplay with horrible storyline, bad directing and lame acting. annoying, bad and almost non-stop irrelevant country songs again and again, so bothering and disturbing. the storyline sucked big time with weakest plot, dialog and whatever came into mind. the young actress who played the main role is not a good and talented enough actor. in addition to this young female, the actor who played her mother is also a lame actor. the whole film looked so unreal and so pretentiously fake. staging scene after scene. and when the grandpa drove away with the horse trailer, he even ran across a stop sign without stopping. the young female heroine couldn't stop smiling all the time or even looked at the camera irresistibly. the ranch they used to tell the lousy story obviously was rented. the grandpa didn't look like a rancher, the newly built barn was the only nice structure in this film, but obviously belonged to someone else in the real world. again and again, the bad annoying country songs were sung that bothered us a lot, giving me impression like the movie producers liked to market those lousy country songs to apple store. all in all, what a terrible...no, horrible film that should never have okay-ed into production in the first place. it's very very memorable for being one of the worst films ever made, even worse than those lousy films produced by 'Lifetime' channel or from 'Hallmark'.

So i officially got to 7.46 into the film. Already irritated with the terrible acting i tried to push through, it just got worse... Seriously how could a movie that had such potential turn out like this. I can't even bring myself to watch the rest of the movie because of the bad acting, everything was too put on. I don't even want to get started on the terrible voice over bits that they have shoved in there at times when they should rather just leave it. Thankfully i came to read the reviews before i tortured myself with over an hour of utter nonsense... I'd rather just go watch the previous Black Beauty movie, it might be old but hey at least they new how to act back in the day. Not even worth killing time watching this... I'd rather watch paint dry.

The main actress appeared very motivated in helping the horse. I would give her that 100%. Her expressions are very beautiful and sincere, so I can see why she was chosen to have that role. Grandpa did a good job as well. He appeared very generous and close to his granddaughter.
The other characters were a bit off, but they were pretty irrelevant to the movie theme.
I think folks may be a bit disappointed cause they're used to the Disney formats. But I think the movie did a good job portraying the struggles of a teenager fitting in, and how she's able to put the energy into something she enjoys, the country, the horse, and life simplicity.

The romantic male lead looked like a girl, and acted like one, too. The acting was lousy on everyone's part except for the girl and the grandfather. The script was seemingly written by a ten year old. So why am I rating it so highly? It is honestly the funniest thing to make fun of. It was so terrible, it was hilarious. I mean, the further into the film I got, the more I wondered "how in the world did this ever make it this far?", and the more I laughed! Honestly, it's so terrible, you will enjoy it. Be in the right mindset, though. You can't just have had the worst day of your life before watching it or you'll probably throw a cat out the window. But if you're feeling goofy and giddy, turn this sucker on and laugh at how low the film industry has sunk.

This movie is so awful it was actually funny. Not sure what was worse, the script or the acting. The only good part was playing "Where in Rhode Island Are We?" The woman who played Audrey stood out, and not in a good way. I'm not sure what was worse, her acting or her voice-over. Unbelievably wooden. Rest of the cast was no better. The filming was nonsensical. The was lots of unnecessary slow motion shots that added to the overall cheesiness. The plot is *very* loosely related to the original story. Take a Dramamine if you are motion sensitive. I wanted to make like the horse and run away! Worst movie ever. Do yourself a favor and skip this dog!
Honestly i dont care for the rest of the movie i thought it was ok. but talise zirilli really showed out. she has phenomenal skills in the acting world. she really showed out. shes the hidden star.

I need to review this film as I couldn't disagree more with the low rating. First of all, you most likely need to be a horse lover, or at the very least a person who has a passion for animal rescue. I think one of the things that throw people is that the story is told in short scenes that are woven together to make the whole film, and there are times when just music is played. Another enjoyment of the movie for me are the two known actors, Luke Perry (R. I. P.) and Bruce Davison. So likeable. The climax is not what you would expect either, but again, those of us who relate to animals in a real way know that this is an ending that makes sense. Speaking of endings, the last few minutes is heart-warming beyond words, but again, it may not be relatable to those who haven't been around horses. I give this film high marks on the "feel better that I watched" meter. This movie has heart, and you need to actually have one to appreciate this kind of art.

I knew Daniel Zirilli, the man who produced and directed this firm. He passed a few weeks ago. He never had a large budget as I'm sure was the case with Black Beauty, but was responsible for dozens of films that gave actors, new and old, and character actors the chance to practice their craft. While most of Daniel's works were more violent action thrillers, this one is different. Clearly, he loved the film he created. This was one of Luke Perry's first movie opportunities. Look at Black Beauty closely keeping in mind that it was produced on a limited budget and you can appreciate what Daniel accomplished. It is a beautiful movie.
