João Carlos (Matheus Nachtergaele) sees crisis everywhere and the more he observes things the angrier he gets with everything around him. It can go with loud and heated
quarrels with a friend while defending his favorite political party despite some on-going crisis; and also by dumping his girlfriend after seeing a video showing her dancing
for some other guy. As a small yet affecting crisis, he just sold his car and while taking a cab to go to places he deals with a talkative taxi driver (Paulo Miklos, excellent)
who has an opposite political view than his. In the chaos of the city and while getting angrier each minute goes by, João slowly realises he needs to find a way to get out of
this messy maze of events and find some solution to his problems.
"When I Stopped Worrying About Scoundrels" is a humored take on anxious/maddening people and the situations around them and how some of us view things and how we deal
with such crazed scenario. If the heated political fights were loud back in 2015, the real and current 2020's show a more frightening and dangerous turn of events. Had the
story taking place now João and his buddy would be throwing punches left and right without mercy. But it's not just about the political crisis the movie, it's also about the
stress-inducing situations of daily life, not just with João but there's also a pizza delivery guy who exposes plenty of thoughts about João at the same time he faces some
difficult moments while doing his job. Despite the loud cries and yelling that constantly takes over those angry characters, there are times we can enjoy some laughter or we
simply scorn one or two situations. Souls that take and feel too much will totally get the movie's idea and see it as something very realistic, an accurate mirror of life with
some small dose of humor in between. Another memorable performance by Nachtergaele, but this time he's not the funniest guy around; he's the angriest possible. 9/10.
