We have all experienced the joys and sorrows of life as well as the periods of despair that can lead us towards losing hope. But when we see someone rise above circumstances far worst than our own, and do it with a smile; it inspires us to pick ourselves up, wipe the tears, and carry on with the reminder that even the most tragic of life's circumstances can be overcome through the unwillingness to give up.
The real-life inspired story and skillful writing invokes our emotions, placing us into the hearts and minds of the character's lives vividly portrayed by the film's talented cast. This film evokes a strong sense of determination to overcome any and all adversities.

CHEW is a wonderfully executed short with some genuine, engaging performances from its cast. The exchanges between Chew and Shannon, brimming with palpable subtext, were particularly strong! The director finely weaves one scene to another in a non-linear way but still managed to keep me following closely to Chew's journey of self-discovery. It's obvious that this short was meant as an "appetizer" for a much larger, more involved Feature project. I found myself curious as to what happens next between Chew and each of her scene partners. In this sense, CHEW did much to whet my appetite and left me wanting more. If this was the filmmaker's intent then I say, "Bring on the feature!"
