The subject of episode 3 "The Protective Hand", is a close parallel of the actual events surrounding the NSU, the terrorist group, that was active from 2000-2010 (and whose name clearly refers to the NAZI Party) and the multiple scandals that erupted from the exposure of the suspiciously inept prosecution of their crimes and the document destruction that followed the organization coming to light by various law-enforcement entities.
