Tomasz gets a new job opportunity building a kitchen but lacks a ruler. In Ulleval Hageby, the Rotevatn family learns that their son Sveinung, is bullied at school, and they decide that they will finally get a dog.

Tomasz receives a tip and seeks a bus driver who might be his father. The man, Yngve, is very nice, but Tomasz does not think there is much of a resemblance and wants a DNA test. Vidkun offers a good explanation of his mysterious illness.

Anneli tells Tomasz that she is pregnant; meanwhile, he has become friends with the pleasant Johannessen and gets a new lead in his search for his father. Vidkun moves back home to family after his hospitalization. Mr. Kiran goes for a walk with Mrs. Kiran and pushes her and her wheelchair off a steep hill.
