As a character study goes, this really isn't bad at all, and I'm not damning with faint praise. I did give it seven stars for luck! Landeau had just the right amount of "handle" on the role. I had to laugh out loud at some scenes(especially the audition ones) and was able to empathize with her disappointments.
This is not a plot-driven movie and would disappoint or annoy certain viewers who expect "things" to happen. It's more of a reality show featuring the funny/tragic life of a movie actor whose career's shelf life has expired but still looking to practice her craft. So there are former A-listers who find a second life doing TV or (horrors!) doing slasher flicks, considering themselves lucky to get into the franchise. By the same token, PAs become top directors while most stay at the bottom, not making it on any list but still "waiting, waiting for the fairy dust to come down from the heavens" as the old actress said to Landeau's character.
"Oh how the wheel becomes it!"
