The station's sets were built in a warehouse in Laval, Québec by the creators and their families. No one did have actual experience in set-building for cinema.
Virtually all lights used in the shooting are incorporated in the sets, meaning that no additional lights were used.
The observation room and the control room are actually the same room transformed between two shooting blocks.
The sequences in space were shot at 240 frames / second to create the effect of weightlessness.
The space station is an original small model and not a virtual 3D model, the creators wanted an organic feeling and to it like they used to do back then.
