It depends what you mean by historically accurate. Abel did exist, was arrested and convicted by the US government, Gary Powers was shot down by the Soviet Union while on a spy flight in a U2, Able and Powers were exchanged on a bridge in Berlin. Some of the details have been tweaked for dramatic effect.
