If you haven't heard of Dave Attell, you haven't seen much stand-up comedy. The man is a living legend, and is celebrated as one of the funniest comedians for the last two decades. And after a few years hiatus since his slightly disappointing Captain Miserable show, he's finally back in full force, with the best delivery he's done since his infamous Skanks for the Memories CD.
Even though Road Work was filmed at several venues and somewhat sloppily edited together, his high rate of punch lines keeps you laughing from start to finish, and the only complaint I have is that it's a bit short. But enough about my penis.
Very much a "comedians comic", his stand-up is not so much about elaborate stories and set-ups, as it's about perfect timing and delivery. Always keeping the humor deliciously dark and depraved, it's amazing to see him jump effortlessly from one subject more politically incorrect than the last, pummeling the crowd with punch lines you'll never see coming. And just when he gets you roaring with laughter, he'll turn the joke on you, and apologize for your lack of decency in laughing at the terrible things he's saying.
As his stand-up is quite the opposite of clean and family friendly, it's obvious that some imbeciles will always take offense. But that's the sign of any good artist.

Comedy special from Dave Attell features several venues and really isn't anything special in terms of filmmaking (most comedy specials are not), but Attell is hilarious (and very crass) as always which is enough to make this well worth watching for fans. However, Attell's humor is not necessarily something for all audiences (not your mom), but if you enjoy his sense of humor, you'll enjoy this special.
Simply put I noticed I never laughed so often with any other stand up performance so this set really takes the cake right now, arguably beating the best sets from dirty legends like Louis CK, Bill Burr, Jim Jefferies, Doug Stanhope and Jimmy Carr.
The jokes are edgy, potentially offensive and best suited for heavy drinkers so I highly recommend it. Actually the jokes are so frequent and the energy is so powerful that this set may be the one video you could watch in an actual party without ruining the flow.
Hopefully this one will redefine high performance comedy delivery for generations to come.

I don't really do reviews, but if I can save some poor unsuspecting person who loves comedy from experiencing this trash..
Calling this guy a comedian is really an insult to the craft. Absolutely nothing is funny about him other than his appearance. His subject matter is something only 14 year old boys MIGHT laugh at. It is just a series of poorly constructed and tediously delivered genitalia jokes.
Look, I have absolutely no problem with profanity or jokes about sex etc. One of my favorite comedians of all time is Louis C. K. and he is pleasingly filthy. But a good comic doesn't depend solely on profanity and easy targets like little people (why yes they are quite small). Wow.
The only reason I give this guy and his show 2 stars is because I think it was a good idea to have people in the audience use cameras to record his "special" (wow is it not special in any way). Save what will seem like a lost ten hours of your life and pass on this junk. Download some old George Carlin or something.
