Did you know
- TriviaGustavo Santaolalla, the music composer for video games The Last of Us (2013) and The Last of Us: Part II (2020), was brought on to compose the series soundtrack.
- GoofsAs with the game, the series' depiction of the cordyceps fungus has some inaccuracies. Overall, the probability of a fungus of this type evolving the need and capability to infect humans is astronomically small. Human brains contain hundreds of thousands of times more neurons compared to an ant brain, and it would be an extraordinarily rapid evolution for cordyceps to gain the ability to infect and take over one. Even if it did, fungal infections are slow, taking a matter of weeks, and nothing like the near-instant transformation depicted; new filaments take some time and energy to produce. All 600 species of Cordyceps which seize control of insect bodies do so to force the host into a humid place where the fungus can feed on the body and spread its spores, so if an evolved cordyceps infected a human and over the course of many days transformed the body into a shambling host, the fungus' end goal would be much the same. Lastly, while insects do gain some level of aggression when infected, they normally do not attack other insects.
- Crazy creditsThe opening titles display a Cordyceps fungus taking on the forms of various landscapes, and finally the forms of Joel and Ellie.

I've come to realize this show isn't for everyone
I had to change my rating score after giving this show some more thought. Even though my brother and I both really enjoyed this, I've come to realize that maybe this show isn't for everyone therefore I lowered my score. If I thought everyone would like this the way we did then I would've left my rating at a 9 but I think a 7 is more accurate after seeing some mixed reviews. The following is my initial review for me personally and anyone else who like these type of shows...The Last of Us definitely lives up to all the hype around it. Considering there are a thousand zombie/post apocalyptic shows to choose from, one would have to be really good and stick out from the rest to put in the time to watch. Well, The Last of Us is definitely that show. It's not only good, but one of the best zombie/ post apocalyptic shows to some out in the last few years. It seems that most agree based off all the terrific reviews from both critics and the audience alike. It's also been nominated for just about every award possible. The show itself was just nominated for a bunch of Emmy's including best drama, Pedro Pascal was nominated for best lead actor, Bella Ramsey for best lead actress, Nick Offerman, Murray Barnett and Lamar Johnson for best guest actor, Melanie Lynskey, Anna Torv and Storm Reid for best guest actress, best ensemble cast, best directing, best writing, etc. So, as you can see it's a great show. HBO has had so many great shows over the years, too many to even name, and it looks like The Last of Us is the next great one. Can't wait to see where this show goes next.
