Initially when I stumbled upon this 2014 movie titled "Dyke Hard", I was very intrigued by the movie's cover. And it was the cover, in fact, that made me pick up the movie and decide to give the movie a watch. It had that glorious overly done 1980s feel to it.
And let me just say that "Dyke Hard" turned out to be a glorious movie. It was one of those wonderfully awkward movies that are just fun to watch. There was so much strange stuff and general weirdness throughout the course of this Swedish comedy that it would be easier to name things you will not see here.
The storyline is pretty straight forward, but while somewhat simplistic, it is still an enjoyable plot and script. And the storyline was definitely helped along quite nicely by an array of very colorful and often quite funny or bizarre characters.
The acting in the movie was good. Sure there was that homemade and amateurish feel to some of the performances, but trust me, that just added to the charm of the movie. This was without a doubt a movie where people had fun participating in creating it.
Now, it should be said that the 2014 Swedish comedy "Dyke Hard" is not a movie that will just broadly find an appeal with the general audience. This is somewhat of an acquired taste, requiring the viewer to have a particular sense of humor and style.
My rating of "Dyke Hard" is a six out of ten stars. I was genuinely surprised with this hilarious and bizarre movie. And if you enjoy oddball movies, then you should definitely give "Dyke Hard" a watch. However, while the movie is definitely watchable and enjoyable, it is hardly a movie that warrants more than a single viewing.
