The man who co-founded Bad Boy Entertainment with Sean Combs in 1993 filed a new lawsuit late Friday accusing Combs of creating a highly toxic and psychologically manipulative work environment filled with serial sexual harassment, physical aggression, and “forced compliance with degrading sexual acts.”
In his 18-page complaint obtained by Rolling Stone, Kirk Burrowes alleges Combs subjected him to unwanted sexual advances, nudity, acts of sexual exhibitionism and sexual assault during their time launching the powerhouse label that would become home to superstar artists Christopher Wallace, a.k.a. The Notorious B.

Making the Band contestant Sara Rivers has filed a new $60 million lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs, alleging the mogul sexually harassed her and stroked her breasts during filming of the hit MTV reality show. Rivers claims that after she refused Combs’ alleged sexual advances, he retaliated against her and blackballed her from the music industry.
The R&b singer, who was part of the musical group Da Band, described her allegedly hellish filming experience in a massive 148-page complaint filed Friday as the lookback window was set to close on...

Bad Boy co-founding partner Kirk Burrowes is suing Sean “Diddy” Combs’ mom, Janice Combs, with claims she secretly and unlawfully assumed control of his 25 percent ownership stake in the record label after her son allegedly coerced Burrowes into signing over his share under threat of physical violence.
In a new lawsuit filed Wednesday in Manhattan federal court, Burrowes claims he only recently learned about Janice’s alleged “fraudulent concealment” of her role in the purported 1996 effort to wrest away his ownership stake and that his allegation is not barred by...

Behind every great man, there’s a woman rolling her sleeves up. Well, we’d argue that behind every powerful story, there’s someone whose quiet strength fuels it all. Take Voletta Wallace, for instance. Most people know her as the mother of Biggie Smalls, but there’s so much more to her.
Alas, the world lost a pillar of strength on February 21, 2025, with the passing of Voletta Wallace. At 72, her passing signaled the close of an era for those who admired the quiet yet indomitable woman, who fought tirelessly to preserve her son’s memory long after his untimely death. Wallace was the bedrock of his legacy, a woman who carved a path through grief, turmoil, and heartache to honor her son’s brilliance.

The sustained snowfall in Berlin reflected a cool but steady first half of EFM 2025, defined largely by a shortfall in must-have big packages.
Amid reduced buyer presence, particularly from Asia, and with many buyers leaving on Sunday, the EFM has mostly been used by sellers to round off sales on pre-existing slates.
One big talking point is whether the new Berlinale and EFM leadership can bring back bigger sales titles, and craft a heavyweight festival selection extending into the second week to lure back attendees who fly to London for the Baftas mid-festival.

Will Gluck, the director of the Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell comedy Anyone But You, is spicing up cinemas with his next project, One Night Only. Universal Pictures snagged the rights to Gluck’s latest comedy, which boasts a Black List script from Travis Braun. In addition to directing One Night Only, Gluck will produce through his Olive Bridge Entertainment studio alongside Olive Bridge vice president Jacqueline Monetta.
After reading the synopsis, One Night Only reminds me of The Purge, but for sexy times. Let me explain. In One Night Only, “two strangers, a man, and a woman, scramble to find someone to sleep with on the one night of the year when premarital sex is legal in their society.” Don’t make a “We live in a society joke,” Steve. You’ll never forgive yourself.

One Night tells of two strangers, a man and a woman, who scramble to find someone to sleep with on the one night of the year when premarital sex is legal in their society.
The script topped the 2024 Black List, the annual ranking of most liked unproduced screenplays that was unveiled in December. Braun made history with the list, as he became the first writer to reach number one status two years in a row. He topped the list in 2023 with Bad Boy, the story of a...

Greenland director Ric Roman Waugh is now directing a new, untitled Jason Statham action thriller, with filming underway in the UK and Ireland.
Last May, we heard about one of a several forthcoming projects from action specialist, Jason Statham. It didn’t have a title, but it did have a premise: Statham, roaming about on a Scottish island under the assumed name of Mason, and rescuing a little girl in the middle of a raging storm.
Filming was set to begin in November 2024, with the attached director being Baltasar Kormakur, perhaps best known for his somewhat tame survival movie, Everest.
As of February 2025, things appear to have changed somewhat. Filming did not get underway in 2024. Kormakur is out and a new director is in: step forward Ric Roman Waugh, who directed Gerard Butler in the beefy end-of-the-world thriller, Greenland. Under his stewardship, the production is now due to get underway in the UK and Ireland,...

As the European Film Market kicks off Feb. 13 in Berlin with a new market head, Tanja Meissner, at the helm, this year’s buzziest titles suggest the industry will be looking toward tried-and-true genre fare and splashy, star-driven packages to thaw the winter chill.
Bankable stars are expected to heat things up in Berlin, with Ari Aster and A24’s “Eddington”, Guy Ritchie’s “Wife & Dog”, Ernest Dickerson’s untitled hitman thriller and Kantemir Balagov’s “Butterfly Jam” showcasing how marquee names remain a safe bet as uncertainty continues to reign in the theatrical market.
On the genre side of things, horror is still expected to scare up sales, with buyers looking to sink their fangs into Isabelle Huppert’s 16th-century vampire mystery “The Blood Countess” and Jacob Chase’s killer canine genre-bender “Bad Boy,” starring Ke Huy Quan and Lili Reinhart. Meanwhile, comedy could be making a comeback,...

Sean “Diddy” Combs is still facing life behind bars if found guilty in his sex trafficking trial later this year, but on Monday the Bad Boy Records founder and Jay-Z saw one less defendant in the accusations that the duo and an unnamed female celebrity raped a 13-year-old girl in 2000.
Looking over a February 7 filing by the now middle-aged Jane Doe’s lawyers and Tony Buzbee’s firm asking to voluntary dismiss Bad Boy Records as a defendant in the matter, Judge Analisa Torres could have pulled the plug on the whole case today. Instead the Barack Obama-appointed NYC-based U.S. District Judge signed the filing from last week, with an item in the docket that said: “Pursuant to Rule 41(a)(1)(A)(i) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, the plaintiff(s) and or their counsel(s), hereby give notice that the above-captioned action is voluntarily dismissed with...

Big names, high concepts, and crowd-pleasing thrills are the order of the day at this year’s European Film Market, where commercial fare is dominating over the usual arthouse prestige plays, reflecting an industry uncertain of the future of the theatrical business in the post-covid world. Action, horror, and comedy are leading the charge, with star-driven projects like Guy Ritchie’s Wife & Dog (Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike), Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You (Rose Byrne, Conan O’Brien, A$AP Rocky), and Ernest Dickerson’s untitled hitman thriller (Samuel L. Good afternoon Insiders, Max Goldbart here penning the newsletter after another busy week. Read on. And sign up here.
‘Emilia’s Awards Chances…
A week is a long time: Last time I penned this very newsletter we led with the headline ‘Emilia’s Oscar March’. Not the same story this week. An unprecedented situation has played out over the past seven days during which the initial frontrunner for multiple (and possibly record-breaking) Oscar wins has been seeing its chances go up in smoke. This is due to Emilia Pérez lead Karla Sofía Gascón’s highly offensive and frankly vile tweets unearthed from several years back, which first emerged late last week. You’ve likely all seen the tweets, but what has happened since is the film’s maker, co-stars and crew trying to tout the film in spite of, not because of, its lead. At the same time, Gascón’s...
