Saturday Night Live alum Jason Sudeikis has landed the lead in Son of Zorn, Fox’s partially animated comedy pilot from Lego Movie constructors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

Last year, 12 Years a Slave clinched the Academy Award for Best Picture at the Toronto Film Festival. Well, that’s not actually true. In fact, you could argue that the Best Picture winner almost lost the statue at the festival. Steve McQueen’s harrowing instant classic was so instantly and universally anointed in Toronto that seeds were planted for an inevitable backlash to flower in the six months before the Oscar winner was finally announced. Ultimately, 12 Years’ biggest Oscar competition came from another Toronto film, Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity. Though both films premiered at Telluride and Venice, respectively, the awards...

It’s been a little while since there was any major news regarding Jeff Jarrett’s new promotion, Global Force Wrestling. However, Gfw has been thrust back into the spotlight as of today after announcing yet another plethora of co-promotional partnerships.
Jarrett made headlines earlier this month when he joined New Japan’s Bullet Club. Gfw’s website and YouTube channel have promised exclusive footage of the shocking event soon — though that’s a different story for a different time.
For now, Jeff has turned his attention back to his burgeoning promotion, Global Force Wrestling. Today, Gfw announced partnerships with several wrestling promotions in Australia and New Zealand. The company’s worldwide reach continues to expand with this announcement, as Gfw has previously inked deals with New Japan, Aaa, Wwp in South Africa, and various European promotions.

Not just a great comedian, but a savvy businessman, Steve Carell has been producing his own vehicles since the 2005 smash hit The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Now, hot on the heels of the debut of his latest project -- the celebrity-studded game show Riot -- Carell has sold a new venture to Disney. This one called Brooklyn Family Robinson. THR reports Steve Carell will produce and star in Brooklyn Family Robinson, a family adventure comedy penned by David Reynolds, writer of the beloved Pixar classic Finding Nemo. The project will reteam Carell with the House of Mouse, which recently wrapped on Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, in which the former Office star appears alongside Bella Thorne, Jennifer Garner, Dylan Minnette, Jennifer Coolidge and Dick Van Dyke. A cast like that suggests that Disney can dig deep to build a fantastic ensemble to stand beside Carell for Brooklyn...

Fox has cancelled Riot, their new comedy improv series, after four episodes.
Hosted by Rove McManus, Riot is an unscripted show that pairs guest celebrities with a group of regular players for comedy song, dance, and sketch challenges. The regulars are John Ross Bowie, Jamie Denbo, Brian Palermo, Jordan Black, Jessica McKenna, Meryl Hathaway and Rob Gleeson.
The show debuted in mid-May to a dismal 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.34 million viewers. The numbers have gone up and down since then but have all been terrible.
The network has pulled the show from the schedule effective immediately, along with I Wanna Marry "Harry". The four remaining episodes may surface at some point in the future but there are currently no plans. Reruns of Fox comedies will fill the timeslot for the time being.

Fans of NBC's The Office may remember how Steve Carell's character, Michael Scott, was enamored by improv sketch comedy. He'd probably also be a fan of Fox's Riot, a new improv show from Carell's production company, Carousel Television. Based on a French format, Riot requires its seven featured players and guest stars to play in song, dance and sketch challenges — frequently on a set that has been titled at a 22-degree angle.

Fox is hoping that viewers find their new Riot TV series to be hilarious so that they keep watching each week. However, television is a serious business and it's the ratings that matter. Will Riot be a ratings success and be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.

Is this more reason to give Glee a shortened final season? The CW's freshman finale of The Originals beat the finale of Glee in both total viewers and the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic on Tuesday. The Originals wrapped up its first season with 2.06 million viewers and a 0.9 rating at 8 p.m., while Glee limped to the finish line with series low 1.9 million and 0.6. Glee's low-rated finale didn't help the launch of the Steve Carell-produced game show Riot, which drew just 1.3 million and 0.5, finishing

Tuesday was a night of season finales, some faired well, while others, not so much. CBS topped the night with a lineup of three season-ending episodes. Fox's “Glee” finale, on the other hand, hit an all-time low in its spring finale. Afterwards, Fox debuted the Steve Carrell-produced “Riot,” which premiered to a low 0.5 rating. CBS was first in ratings with a 2.3 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and first in viewers with an average of 14.1 million, according to preliminary numbers. All three shows on the schedule were season finales. “NCIS” at 8 p.m. had a night high...

I think it’s safe to say that Steve Carell is a master of physical comedy. This is the man who famously once waxed his chest hair on the big screen. So it makes sense that The Office star is an executive producer and one of the first celebrity guests on Riot, a new extreme game show premiering tonight on Fox.
“I have no idea what I’m getting myself into,” Carell jokingly told EW before filming alongside his Office co-star Andy Buckley. The show is based on the international hit franchise Slide Show and puts two teams of celebrities...

Fox made a big spring and summer scheduling announcement on Wednesday (March 26) afternoon, but the only thing anybody on my Twitter feed wanted to discuss was the fact that after this Friday, "Enlisted" is off the schedule, at least for the foreseeable future. So let's get that out of the way. Fox had already scheduled an hour-long series finale for "Raising Hope" for April 4, so "Enlisted" was off the schedule for next week anyway. But Fox revealed on Wednesday that "Kitchen Nightmares" will premiere on April 11 in that 9 p.m. hour. This isn't a huge shocker, folks. "Enlisted" no longer had a comedy partner for that hour, so was Fox going to air "Enlisted" and an "Enlisted" encore? "Enlisted" and a random repeat? Who would that benefit? So "Enlisted" will return. Fox emphasizes this. We just don't know when. Now let's get down to the business of Fox premieres from May on.

Joe Millionaire lives!
Well, sort of. EW has confirmed that Fox will soon debut a new reality series called I Wanna Marry “Harry,” in which a dozen American ladies will compete for the heart of a man they’ve been led to believe is Prince William’s ginger-haired younger brother. In actuality, though, they’re courting Matthew Hicks, ”an average English bloke” who’s been given “the royal treatment and an upper crust makeover.”
The series shares more than a little DNA with Fox’s seminal 2003 reality competition Joe Millionaire – which makes sense, since both shows were initially developed by former Fox executive Mike Darnell.

Fox has firmed up its late spring/summer scheduling plans, slating new unscripted series I Wanna Marry “Harry,” from producer Ryan Seacrest & ZigZag Prods, and Riot (formerly Slide Show), from producer Steve Carell and Shine America. I Wanna Marry “Harry,” featuring single American women vying for the heart of a Prince Harry lookalike they are led to believe is the real thing, will debut May 27 and air in the Tuesday 8 Pm slot. Riot, featuring celebrities and comedians tackling song, dance and sketch challenges on a tilted set, will premiere May 13, following the season finale of Glee. Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, originally slated to succeed Bones in the Friday 8 Pm hour earlier this month, was held back when Rake was moved into the slot. The veteran reality series will now rejoin Fox’s Friday lineup on April 11, but it will air at 9 Pm, following Rake. That means that midseason comedy Enlisted,...
