Study Group

Stylish, Action packed and Entertaining start to this High-School Drama

With only two episodes out, Study Group is already feeling like drama of the year. Based on the popular webtoon, it tells the story of Gamin, a hilariously clueless high schooler with a secret talent for fighting. Despite his fighting skills, his ultimate dream is to excel in his studies. But when he transfers to a school full of delinquents and fighters, his plans for a peaceful study group spiral into chaos.

The action sequences are awesome, stylish, energetic, and incredibly fun to watch. They're elevated by an amazing soundtrack that perfectly complements the intensity. The balance between thrilling action and comedic moments is just so good.

The drama is super fast paced, so you won't feel bored for even a minute. The comedic action is easily the highlight of the first two episodes. Along with the teacher's character which I found very interesting and wonder how her character will develop in future episodes. Overall highly recommend this series if you're looking to have a gripping and funny, action packed high school drama to watch.

creative storyline, packed with action and comedy, MUST WATCH!

Definitely the best k-drama for me yet in 2025. I didnt read the webtoon beforehand so i dont know what changes have been made in the drama but what i've seen from the drama it's already so catchy and mindblowing. I definitely have to admire the storyline and the way plots have been arranged one after another. The actions and comedies have been perfectly balanced that keeps you hooked up for more. I loved all the characters and how the actors played those roles. But yeah the main character Yun Ga Min will definitely be your favorite one. But i gotta add this too if you're not into k-dramas or dont like this kind of school life genres, it might disappoint you a bit. Also this is fully an action-comedy drama with bits of mystery, which focuses entirely on friendship, personal growth and the bonding that forms through a mere study group. It's hard to finish if i talk about this drama. Not going to give any spoiler but i'm just gonna say if you still haven't watched this you're missing out a lot trust me! Maybe give it a try if you want something refreshing to watch or maybe diverse your attention towards something different. Thank you!

A Gut Punch You Must Watch

"Chaotic, cathartic, and a brutal critique-juxtaposing violent survival with the pressures of the education system."

Study Group isn't just another action-packed school drama-it's a sharp dissection of an education system that feels more like a battlefield. Through a metaphorical lens, it captures the brutal reality of Korea's cutthroat academic culture, where hierarchy and privilege dictate success. In a world where intelligence alone isn't enough, Yoon Ga-Min's desperate attempt to form a simple study group feels almost absurd-but that absurdity is exactly what makes the story so compelling.

Violence here isn't just for spectacle; it's an allegory for academic survival, where only the strongest endure. With breakneck action, dark humor, and Gen Z irreverence reminiscent of Bottoms (2023), Study Group doesn't just entertain-it fights its way to becoming this generation's Fight Club.

Very good action drama

This action drama is no less exciting, it's still ongoing but it has made Korean drama lovers excited to watch it, it really matches the anime, they were really smart in choosing the right cast. I really want all the episodes of this drama to be released because it's so exciting. Here we also get motivation that studying is very important and no matter what happens, studying must still be prioritized. This drama is really cool, there are many lessons we can take from this drama. The challenges we face when we want to start properly, when we are committed. And mixed feelings are in this drama. About friendship, family, school, university, everything is covered here, there are all motivations and lessons in this drama. Anyway, it's a must watch, it's really fun.

A FRESH BREATH OF AIR IN K-WORLD!! WORTH THE HYPE!!

Study Group exceeded all my expectations. I thought it would be just another drama filled with fights and bullying, but I was completely wrong. Every moment was packed with humor and entertainment and I found myself thoroughly enjoying it. The action scenes went beyond anything I could have imagined-they were incredible!

The cast did an amazing job, and every actor stood out with their performance. Yoon Gamin, played by Hwang Minhyun, was especially captivating. He embodied the character perfectly-funny, silly, goofy, and undeniably hot during the fight scenes. I loved the anime-like vibe of the show, and the fact that Hwang Minhyun performed all the action sequences himself, including the fire and nunchaku scenes, blew me away. His dedication is truly impressive.

I've seen some comments about the action scenes being forced or unrealistic, and I can't agree. First of all, it's based on a webtoon. Secondly, the plot is absolutely fantastic. And finally, the cast is top-tier. If you haven't watched it yet, give it a shot-you'll love it!

Heartwarming!!!

The main character, Yoon Ga Min is such a heartening character. It was simply a treat watching him. Loved him. My Favourite drama character ever !!!

An amazing and well rounded drama with an awesome cast. Hope it gets the recognition it deserves. Its right up there with series like Moving, Move to Heaven, D. P, Bloodhounds.

Each and every character and actor was so well written and well casted. Loved all of them.

I started it because had nothing to watch. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical. But I am so glad I did. It's so refreshing with no toxic characters.

Do not miss it ! Its worth the time ! Happy watching !!!

Great action packed show

All the actors did a great job in playing their roles which is commendable...Kudos to them as they did justice to theirs roles.

The show has great action and also has some comedy bits which really made the show interesting...specially the main lead who desperately wants to do well in studies and does everything in his might to do so...the show runs around this plot but trust me when i say this...for someone who loves action/comedy this one is for you.

Or anyone who is looking for something different unlike regular rom-com then you have to definitely try this show you would love it...mark my words.

If Goku actually tried to study.

The fights are fantastic. That's what you're here for. While there are many examples of better-choreographed fighting, and some might find the over exaggeration a bit much, what's here is undeniably fun and entertaining. Once you accept that it's not meant to be realistic, you're in for a good time. I mean you can't take it seriously the moment you see someone casually get punched through a wall.

It's not just the main character who shines in the cool fights; the other members of the study group also have their own standout moments to spice up the action. Additionally, the various "boss" type characters help keep things fresh.

While the fighting is undoubtedly the highlight of this show, the story and its characters are equally compelling. Ga-Min's relentless drive to study and get into college creates a narrative that is both heartwarming and funny. Additionally, the members of his study group each have their own backstories that aren't too shabby either.

The soundtrack is outstanding. The opening song is an absolute banger.

1000/10 Kdrama

I've recently gone through a phase where I've watched soo many predictable kdrama. Haven't finished a few because they seemed so repetitive but Study Group was a breathe of fresh air. Was funny, good plot, awesome characters and story line. Highly recommend. The characters individual story also came through well. The fighting scenes weren't over the top, it was done really well. Character developments were also good. I've really enjoyed watching it and planning on rewatching it again soon. They were all sweet and the one thing I got from it was that no matter how big the challenge, change is possible no matter how small.

Mesmerizing k-drama ever

School life action k-drama, which will never bore you even for a second. The character Yun Ga Min will win your heart with his innocent appearance. This drama is also encouraging for students who frequently face depression, anxiety, and feeling low due to their performance in study. This drama will entertain you as well as teach you a great lesson. The best part is to properly utilize what you have. If you want to do something in life, cling to it wholeheartedly like Yun Ga Min. I think it is better than anime . I can get over the series. I would suggest to watch this series must . Looking forward the 2nd part of this series .

Immense fun - a must watch

The action sequences in this show are so original funny and well directed. The effects are superb. Kudos to the director. But this isn't just a show about school kids fighting. The story is involving with a good vs evil battle between the ones who want to study and the gangster recruiters. At 10 episodes there is no drag. A good direction for K dramas to break away from the 16 episode standard. If you think you have seen enough school bullying shows this is different because it has a black comedy satirical tone that keeps things from getting heavy and propels the story delightfully onwards with surprising turns of events throughout. And there is enough time for backgrounds of the characters so you understand the motivations of both the heroes and the ones who become good. I love the way every action sequence is different leading from one to another. The cast is not terribly famous apart from the perfectly cast Hwang Min Hyun as the angelic looking sometimes comically dumb student who is good at fighting. Quite a memorable hero. They sure got a suitable bunch of actors to play the thugs.

One of the most enjoyable series.

If you loved "Pyramid game" & "Weak hero class-1" THIS IS FOR YOU!

This 10-episode masterpiece starring idol actor Hwang Min Hyun from NU'EST had me hooked from the very first episode. The screenwriting was crisp and precise, and all the stunts were fantastic! I usually skip fighting scenes, but these were thrilling to watch. Hats off to Min Hyun and the others who executed the stunts so well!

The drama follows the classic high school bullying trope. However, one setback was that it seemed to revolve around a rich bully character whose presence was barely felt throughout the series. If you've seen "Pyramid Game," you would know how actress Jang Da-Ah excelled in her role, but the main bully here was hardly shown and didn't come across as intimidating at all.

On the positive side, the study group members were unique and memorable. Overall, the drama did justice to its short number of episodes, and I hope it gets renewed for a second season!

Packs a punch

Comedic satire with an action twist at its best standard-grab some popcorn, turn off your brain, and just enjoy the show.

This is clearly not meant to be taken seriously, with people breaking concrete structures and flying across the room by a single punch. But that's what gives Study Group its charm. Don't expect it to be realistic, but an exceptionally beautiful story with plenty of physical and emotional punches. I admit that I had to try hard to stop comparing it to another masterpiece: Weak Hero Class 1, but I soon accepted the fact that these were two completely different genres.

Some storylines and well-crafted fight scenes actually moved me, and the goofy nature of the characters balances out the constant violence nicely too. Also, why do none of these reviews mention the soundtrack? It fits the vibes perfectly and gives the fight scenes a dramatic flair. There are many questions left unanswered, so I really hope there will be a season 2. Not gonna lie, I do find these reviews a bit overinflated thought. It was a fun ride, but nothing exceptional. I'll go read the webtoon it's based on soon.

Almost incredible

Turn your brain off and enjoy the ride. This show has so much potential, but certain aspects are slightly off. The positives are that the story line is decent, it's shot very well, the characters are very likeable especially the main cast and it's a good blend of comedy and action. This had so much potential, but unfortunately the fight scenes are a little disappointing, especially when you see teenagers destroying concrete structers using punches. A lot of the action scenes sends people flying several meters through the air, just wish it was a big more grounded. Also if you try to think logically while watching the show, you'll not enjoy it. Like certain character motivation and how or why they are doing certain things just doesn't make sense. I don't regret watching it, and I think most people will enjoy it, just wish it was slightly different, but I haven't read the source material so maybe it stayed true to that. Anyway it's definitely worth watching.

Good Enough

Korean Drama '' Study Group '' is an action, school drama.

The story is pretty enjoyable, with loads of action scenes and well-choreographed fighting scenes. It also has an emotional aspect, with the friendship slowly blossoming between the members of the study group, as it grows and acquires new members. In addition, each student had an interesting background story that enhanced that emotional aspect.

On the other hand, the corruption of the school wasn't as smoothly handled as the comedy and the rest of the story, but it was entertaining nevertheless.

Finally, the performances were all enjoyable by everyone in the cast.

So, overall, eight out of ten.

one word AMAZING

Haven't enjoyed a series this much so far, its action packed with an almost superhero like mc which is a trope i really like. His abilities reminded me of bong soon(tv show- strong girl bongsoon) so if u liked that maybe u might like this too!. It has thriller elements ,slight gore, a lot of fighting, comedic elements and most importantly its not romance based so its very suitable for people who want to watch a show with friendship and action with no romance. All the characters had depth and no character was overshadowed which i really liked! My only complain is its too short :). 10/10 definite rewatchable material hope they make a s2.

Wow just wow

I didn't expect that drama to be that good. I have watched so many high school k drama, but study group drama is whole another level. Every episode keeps you interesting and not bore at all. Some high school k drama makes me bore, and I have to skip it. I love this drama same like twinkling watermelon. Don't hate me for saying this. I prefer this study group k drama than week hero class 1. Study group k drama has a comedy, friendship, and fighting scenes. Watch it, you won't regret it. I hope there will be a season 2 for this drama. I love all the characters and actors who play the role. 1000% recommend.

A Wild Wacky Romp

STUDY GROUP, based on a webtoon, is fun, exuberant entertainment. Lots of laughs and surprises interspersed with cartoonish, implausible violence. A parade of horribles get their come-uppance from the unlikely, but likeable, study group members.

The theme here is very similar to that of WEAK HERO, CLASS I, which has a certain depth and nuance STUDY GROUP lacks. In both series, the ML looks and acts like a wuss, someone who's a natural target for bullies. The bullies are quick to notice, of course. Big mistake though, because each of these dudes is an incredibly talented and well-trained fighter-whose only goal is to stay out of trouble, get good grades, and go to college.

That's where the similarity ends. In WEAK HERO, CLASS I, the ML is a superior student who aces all his exams and ranks at the top of the class. Not so with Yoon Ga-Min, the ML in STUDY GROUP. No matter how hard he studies he just can't seem to get his brain in gear, and he's ranked at the bottom.

But he has a plan. No spoiler here; the plan is divulged in the first moments of the first episode.

Wild and crazy action ensues. I'm easily bored, but not a moment drags - in either series. I'm guessing you'll like them both. Eight stars. Eight stars.

"A must watch for High School Korean drama Lover"

I really wanted to watch this drama because it was all over the internet, and I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype.

The story revolves around a high school student and his friend who form a study group. The main lead is portrayed as a strong fighter but struggles academically. Despite his challenges, he is determined to study, and the drama follows his journey through friendships and hardships.

The plot was engaging, and the pacing felt just right-not too slow or rushed. Every episode kept me hooked, and I genuinely enjoyed watching the characters grow.

The acting was excellent, especially from the main lead and his friends. They brought depth to their roles and made the story feel realistic.

Visually, the drama was stunning. The cinematography, lighting, and locations were well-executed, making every scene enjoyable to watch.

Overall, this drama is a perfect mix of action, friendship, and determination. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves high school dramas with a unique twist!
