This was the first film of Mimosa Willamo. She won a Jussi-award for her role.
Armi Toivanen used brown contact lenses in the film in order to make her look more like Mimosa Willamo who played her daughter.
All the scenes in the film were storyboarded by taking still photographs of stand-in's during pre-production. The final storyboard had some 900 images and was five inches thick.
Nothing was shot inside a studio. The choice was made to ensure the world of the film would feel as authentic as possible.
