John Early and Olga Merediz have joined the cast of A24’s “Eternity.”

The romantic comedy, in which people must decide who they want to spend eternity with, also stars Miles Teller (“Top Gun: Maverick”), Elizabeth Olsen (“WandaVision”), Callum Turner (“Masters of the Air”) and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”).

David Freyne is directing the movie; Pat Cunnane (“Designated Survivor”) wrote the script, which appeared on the 2022 Black List.

A24 is financing and distributing the rom-com, as well as producing with Star Thrower Entertainment and its founders Trevor White and Tim White. The film is currently in production.

Early was last seen in the 2024 pandemic comedy “Stress Positions,” from director Theda Hammel. It’s summer, everyone! And with its relatively sparse list of new releases for July 2021, Hulu seems to be subtlety imploring its subscribers to go outside.

Don’t get us wrong: Hulu’s library offerings get a big upgrade this month. July 1 sees the arrival of great films like Galaxy Quest, Fargo, and Caddyshack. Bill and Ted Face the Music premieres on July 2 and its followed by Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar on July 9. Not bad stuff! Sam Keeley will play John Finlay in the upcoming Peacock series “Joe Exotic.”

Finlay was one of Joe Exotic’s husbands famously profiled in the hit Netflix docuseries “Tiger King.” It was announced last week that Nat Wolff would star as Travis Maldonado, another of Exotic’s husbands. Finlay joins previously announced series leads Kate McKinnon, who will play Carole Baskin, and John Cameron Mitchell, who will play Joe Exotic. It was also recently announced that Brian Van Holt would play John Reinke.

Keeley recently starred in the Paramount Network dramedy “68 Whiskey” and the Netflix miniseries “The English Game.” His other TV credits include “The Dublin Murders” and “Misfits,” while his feature credits include “The Cured,” “In the Heart of the Sea,” “The Siege of Jadotville,” and “Anthropoid.”

Dating Amber is a hilarious coming-of-age comedy set in Ireland in the mid-90s. Things begin to unravel when two closeted teens – Eddie and Amber, decide to stage a fake relationship to stop everyone from speculating about their sexuality.

Dating Amber is available now on Amazon Prime. Whilst David Freyne’s first feature, the horror film The Cured, is available to watch in the UK on Netflix.

With so many streaming services to choose from, it can often be difficult to find the right one to spend your hard-earned dough on. That being said, Hulu has remained among the most exciting and content-heavy platforms alongside Netflix, really cementing itself as one of the most appealing options out there in recent years thanks to its collection of original content and very, very deep library of licensed films.

Like every other streaming service, they bring us new titles every month and July is looking to be quite a good one. Especially if you’re a horror fan. Admittedly, Hulu has always been pretty reliable when it comes to this particular genre, and that’s a reputation they seem intent to keep, as next month will bring us the likes of The Devil’s Rejects, Freddy vs. Jason, Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, House of 1000 Corpses, The Ninth Gate, The House That Jack Built...

Hulu is out with its list of everything new coming to the streaming service in July.

Highlights include season three of “90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days” and season one of “90 Day Fiance: The Other Way: Complete Season 1,” as well as some classic movies like “The Color Purple” and “Best in Show,” all coming July 1.

A new Hulu original movie “Palm Springs” drops on July 10, and a new episode of “Into the Dark” called “The Current Occupant” premieres July 17.

Movies leaving Hulu on July 31 include “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight,” “Thelma & Louise” and “Wayne’s World.”

Bac Films, the Paris-based film group behind the Venice Horizons title “My Days of Glory,” has bolstered its international sales division with a new team topped by Marine Goulois and Andrea Dos Santos.

Goulois previously worked at Snd, the sales arm of the commercial network M6, and Les Films du Losange, while Dos Santos worked at Orange Studio and Alfama Films. They will head the international sales division together.

Goulois, who has a track record handling both prestige auteur movies such as Michael Haneke’s films at Les Films du Losange, and high-concept genre or comedy movies at Snd, will also be in charge of international acquisitions.

After a five-week shoot in Ireland, David Freyne’s new comedy, Beards, recently wrapped filming and has now entered post-production. The director’s first feature, entitled The Cured (2017), was a sci-fi horror flick set in a post-apocalyptic society, in which a virus that turns people into zombies has been cured. That film starred actors Ellen Page, Sam Keeley and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, among others. Freyne’s very well-received debut was screened in the Special Presentations section of the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. The story of Beards, penned in its entirety by the helmer himself, centres on two closeted teenagers in mid-1990s Ireland, called Eddie and Amber (both aged 17), who decide to stage a relationship in order to stop everyone speculating about their sexuality. German actress Franka Potente will be making her directorial debut with “Home,” a California-set redemption drama starring Oscar-winning actress Kathy Bates, Jake McLaughlin and Lil Rel Howery.

Exclusive: Here’s a nice first trailer for Irish boxing drama Float Like A Butterfly, which picked up the Fipresci Discovery Prize at the Toronto Film Festival.

The second film from writer-director Carmel Winters (Snap), Float was filmed on location in West Cork and follows 15-year-old Frances who has been raised in roadside camps in rural Ireland and wants to become a boxing champion like her idol Muhammad Ali. However, she must overcome cultural and familial hurdles to achieve her dreams.

The film, which is repped for world sales by WestEnd Films, also won the Audience Award in Cork where it had its Irish premiere in November. Released at festivals in 2017 as The Third Wave, David Freyne's first narrative feature (now released as The Cured) nabbed not just Ellen Page, who loved the script enough to sign on as both actor and producer, but terrific Irish actors Sam Keeley (In the Heart of the Sea) and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (Peaky Blinders), as well. Loyalties are torn for the cured

There are any number of films out there about zombie plagues, but how often do we think about what happens afterwards? In David Freyne's Irish horror drama The Cured, the epidemic is pretty much over, but those who have successfully been treated for their infection can still remember everything they did whilst under the influence. Society remembers too, making it difficult for them to reintegrate. When the director agreed to chat about his film, I began by asking him about its screening at the Glasgow Film Festival back in February.

“It was great. It was a really good screening," he says. "It was the week we had that kind of crazy weather, so we were supposed to be in Glasgow for, I think, two days, and we ended up being there for seven, eight days, just snowed in,...

When Qasim Basir made his 2010 debut feature, “Mooz-lum,” the story of an American Muslim going to college in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Facebook changed the trajectory of his filmmaking career.

“It was a very difficult movie to get out,” said Basir. “It wasn’t about terrorism, [but] it still received a great amount of opposition and hate.” He turned to Facebook, writing individually to his followers and asking for help in building awareness. Sharing behind-the-scenes footage and telling his personal story, Basir quickly built a community around his “Mooz-lum” Facebook page.

“We went straight to the people and built a community of 100,000 from around the world, who were literally writing, ‘We want to see this movie in our city,'” said Basir. Last weekend, writer/director David Freyne’s zombie-fueled political thriller The Cured arrived on VOD and in select theaters courtesy of IFC Films. Starring Ellen Page, Sam Keeley, and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, The Cured picks up where most living dead cinematic stories end. After a cure has been discovered, the previous flesh eaters are now returning to the general population to resume their normal lives, but those who were never affected by the virus aren’t exactly ready to welcome them back into the fold with open arms.

Daily Dead recently caught up with Freyne, and he discussed his unusual approach to the story of The Cured, tapping into some real-life horrors that are currently plaguing the socio-political landscape worldwide, collaborating with his cast and crew, and more.

Great to speak with you today, David. What I think is really interesting about The Cured is the fact that your story picks...

February has been a busy month, as there have been a ton of indie genre offerings coming out each and every week, and I had a chance to check out a trio of recent titles: The Cured from Irish filmmaker David Freyne, the quirky romance/body horror hybrid Are We Not Cats, and Derek Nguyen’s gothic romance, The Housemaid.

The Cured: Right from the start, it is evident that writer/director David Freyne wasn’t looking to make a typical zombie movie, as The Cured begins its story at a juncture where most filmmakers never venture: a deadly zombie outbreak has been curbed after a cure has been discovered, and those no longer afflicted by the disease are able to rejoin the general population. The zombie movie genre has long been used by filmmakers to explore various societal issues through the lens of horror. That continues with “The Cured,” which offers an interesting take on the brain-eater flick, while addressing the ongoing refugee crisis around the globe.

Written and directed by David Freyne, and starring Ellen Page, Sam Keeley, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, and Paula Malcomson, the story follows a young man who has been “cured” of the infection that turned him into a zombie.

It's such an ingenious idea for a zombie movie that you're surprised no one's thought about it before. A global epidemic turns massive amounts of the world's population into flesh-craving ghouls. An antidote is found, which allows most of these everyday-people monstrosities to come back from the equivalent of the walking, chomping dead. (Most ... but not all.) The catch is that these former mindless killing machines remember every horrible thing they did under the influence of "the Maze Virus" – and they have to live with their memories, their regret, their guilt and their shame.

After an endless torrent of low production zombie flicks shot in forests and abandoned warehouses without even an insincere attempt at color grading to look even remotely professional, we finally have something you can show to that friend who is always resistant to anything in the zombie genre due to it's severe malnutrition of originality. The Cured, from director David Freyne, had its World Premiere last year. Now, this infectious styled thriller is set to release in the U.S., through IFC Films. The film takes place after a pandemic has swept the land. Some of the infected have been partially cured. Then, they are re-integrated into society, with deadly results. The Cured stars Ellen Page (Hard Candy, 2005), Sam Keeley (Anthropoid, 2016) and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor. A preview of the film's upcoming launch is hosted here. The trailer for The Cured is quite revealing. Senan is still a host to a strange infection. But, his violent tendencies have been thwarted. He is sent out into the community, to live with his sister-in-law. Here, he must face the results of his previous murderous actions.
