So unlike American movies! Very beautiful cinematography. Flawless makeup. Not much dialog, but then, not much is needed, as the acting deleted the necessity for a lot of words. The love scenes were so very touching and did not need graphic sex to portray them.
The love story was not only about Seyit and Sura, but also Guzide and Celil, whose own love story was even more compelling than that of the title characters. (neither Ushan Cakir, as Celil, nor the actor who was Guzide were mentioned in any of the reviews), were the 10 stars of the series for me. The camera angles capturing the emotion and tenderness between these two people were beyond moving. Take note, Hollywood!
And Petro, the villain could not have been more despicable! Treachery at every turn. We have Petro to thank for what violence there is in this story.
I read that there was a season II, but I cannot imagine that there is: the ending was so, er, final. Great story about the history, culture even the food. I have been to Istanbul, now I am ready to pack my bags and visit Alushta.
