He came in second place on the inaugural season of Fox’s megahit American Idol. But looking back on it, Justin Guarini sure is glad he didn’t win.

He’s been receiving early praise for his performance as the younger Dr. Dre in N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton (which you can read more about here), and now Corey Hawkins is going on an entirely different sort of journey. He’s joining the cast of Kong: Skull Island.Jordan Vogt-Roberts is preparing to direct the film, which sees a team (currently including Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson) heading to the fog-shrouded, mysterious titular island, home to the world’s biggest, angriest ape and a whole host of other creatures. Heath – a character straight from the comics – is joining The Walking Dead season 6. He'll be played by Corey Hawkins...

As the ever-popular zombie drama The Walking Dead builds toward its sixth season, a few new characters are to be expected.

The latest of these to be announced is Heath, a character from the comics, who is now joining the show. He will be played by Corey Hawkins.

Mr Hawkins previously played a Navy person in Iron Man 3, a plane traveller in Non-Stop and Tybalt in the 2014 Romeo And Juliet. This summer, he will play Dr Dre in the Straight Outta Compton movie.

If you’re not too familiar with the comics – Heath first appeared in The Walking Dead #69, as a supply runner in the Alexandria Safe Zone.

It’s worth noting that the show has just arrived in Alexandria, meaning that some stories straight out of the comics could well be expected next.
