You don't need a multi-million budget in order to produce a science fiction movie . PROSPECT is a case in point . All you need is well thought out location filming and here we see an unspoiled planet similar to AVATAR where a man and his teenage daughter search for a natural rare product that is needed by the human race . That said there does seem to be a lack of internal logic to the makers choosing this location . I was impressed by it so why do the characters need to wear space suits that indicate that the air is unbreathable to humans ? Let me elaborate evolution on this unnamed planet means we have lush forest/jungle and the off screen sound indicates birds live there and probably primates and yet human beings can't breath the air ? Surely there's enough oxygen content to keep the animal life alive and therefore humans even though they're alien to this eco-system ? . I suppose you're not supposed to think about the scenario and mis-en-scene in too much detail and instead you're supposed to concentrate on the narrative which can be described as a feminist Western in space for the TWILIGHT / HUNGER GAMES crowd which it succeeds in . That said like a large number of short films this one feels like a pitch and when the end credits come up it naturally feels like it's the opening credits of a feature length film .One starts to realise how rare a genuinely self contained short film is
