Life on the Road

Ricky Gervais has released a new photo from "Life on the Road," a film that continues the adventures of his character of the aggressively awkward David Brent in BBC's original "The Office". The feature-length mockumentary follows Brent who is now a travelling salesman and is now attempting to get his old band, Foregone Conclusion, back together. [Source: Twitter]

Fuller House

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen famously won't be a part of Netflix's "Fuller House" series continuation, and now it has been revealed that the Michelle Tanner character's absence will be explained away by them now living in New York City and working on building a fashion empire. "Iron Man 3" Spoilers Ahead

So just who is The Mandarin?

As we saw in "Iron Man 3," Ben Kingsley played Trevor Slattery, a failed British actor who was pretending to be The Mandarin - the most dangerous terrorist in the world and the leader of the mysterious Ten Rings organisation.

While Slattery's take on the Mandarin was an apparent smoke screen thought up by Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce), the Ten Rings is a real group in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the subsequent short film "Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King," we see an incarcerated Trevor Slattery broken out of jail by a minion of the 'real' The Mandarin.

So who is the real Mandarin? Out doing promotion for "The Boxtrolls," Ben Kingsley teased to IGN that he might know. In fact it might be him after all:

"Has the Mandarin invented Trevor, or has Trevor invented the Mandarin?...

Now that filming for The Avengers: Age of Ultron is in full swing across the globe, Marvel Studios is gearing up for production next month on its "Phase Three" launcher, Ant-Man, in Atlanta, Georgia. According to the ever-reliable Deadline, the latest name attached to the Edgar Wright-directed adaptation is Matt Gerald. Best known for his roles in Avatar, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Showtime's Dexter, the actor will apparently play "one of the bad guys," but his character may be already established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Matt Gerald played 'White Power Dave' opposite Sir Ben Kingsley in the Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King, which featured on Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray. However, the casting report fails to acknowledge Gerald's minor role in the short film. Marvel One-Shot: All Hail The King is a short film following the character of Trevor Slattery also known as The Mandarin, (played by Ben Kingsley) after the credits rolled on Iron Man 3. This short film is available on the Thor: The Dark World 3D Combo Pack and Blu-ray discs that hit the streets yesterday, February 25th.

After penning superhero comedy No Heroics, Brit screenwriter Drew Pearce found himself brought into the Marvel movie family to pen an adaptation of The Runaways and work with Shane Black on crafting Iron Man 3.

His ingenious take on the comic's supervillain The Mandarin (played by Sir Ben Kingsley as drunken jobbing actor Trevor Slattery) set tongues wagging, and the character will return in Marvel One-Shot All Hail the King, available on the Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray and DVD.

Digital Spy spoke to Pearce to find out the secrets to writing a good comic book film.

With the release of Thor: The Dark World on DVD and Blu-ray just a few weeks away, Marvel have started releasing various clips and featurette excerpts from the highly anticipated release.

Below, you’ll find a featurette about casting Tom Hiddleston as Loki (containing his full screen test for the role of Thor), a deleted scene in which Freya (Rene Russo) explains to Thor why Loki, an adopted child, has her powers, and a preview of the rather hilarious gag reel.

Of course, the home release features even more than all of this, including the Marvel One-Shot: All Hail The King, starring Sir Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery/The Mandarin.

Thor: The Dark World is released on DVD, Blu-ray, and Blu-ray 3D in the UK and 24th February and the Us on February 25th.

A lot of comic book fans were far from pleased by Marvel Studios’ decision to turn The Mandarin into a dim-witted impersonator being used by A.I.M. as the face of terrorist organisation, The Ten Rings, in Iron Man 3. However, few had many issues with Sir Ben Kingsley’s hilarious performance, and he will be returning to the role of Trevor Slattery in a 14-minute Marvel One-Shot which will be included on the Thor: The Dark World Blu-ray later this year.

According to EW, “All Hail The King” serves as an epilogue to Iron Man 3 and perhaps even a prelude to a fourth instalment of the franchise. The short picks up with Trevor in a maximum security prison (Seagate prison; the same location in which Luke Cage gained his powers in the comics) where he is enjoying his newfound infamy.
