I had not heard about "Black & White: The Dawn of Justice" from 2014, prior to getting the chance to sit down and watch it in 2020. So I had virtually no idea what to expect from the movie, aside from knowing it to be an action movie of sorts. And the fact that it was a Chinese movie was more than enough to make me have an interest in watching it.
Well I managed about not even half of the movie, then I just gave up. There was literally nothing captivating about the movie. Sure, the first part with the bombs was interesting, but then the movie lost its momentum entirely and went into reverse gear. The characters and events just failed to entertain or be interesting.
And it didn't really help much that the storyline was just a massive pile of... Well, you get my drift. And the fact that it made little sense or had no realism to it, or the fact that it was just downright boring and pointless, didn't really do much to win me over.
I am sure that they had a good enough ensemble of casted actors and actresses on the cast list. Just a shame that they literally had nothing to work with in terms of characters, script or storyline.
I have absolutely no interest in returning to watch the rest of the movie.
My rating of "Black & White: The Dawn of Justice" is a generous two out of ten stars, given the production value of the movie. Do yourself a favor and stay well clear of this movie from director Yueh-Hsun Tsai, as there are far more interesting and entertaining Chinese action movies readily available.
