The movie was very dull and very boring, so boring. It was like watching paint dry, but that might be more entertaining.
I was expecting a murder mystery from the description. Then as soon as the movie comes on, I realized it was one of those urban movies that I watch on bounceTV late at night while trying to doze off. This is not an insult to those movies as some of them are really good, but this movie was just really bad.
In its effort to be creative with the story telling, it miss the mark by a large margin. The movie was about a man moving into a Queens Apartment complex and really shakes up the lives of everyone living there. Trying to be inventive with the narrative, only made the film feel inconsistent, like there were missing parts and loopholes I missed.
Not that it really matter. I've seen most of the members of this ensemble cast in other films, including other Urban dramas, and seen them do a better job with the acting. I think it was just too much going on in the movie and it was handled badly.
Waste of time at the movies.

I had not seen any promotions for this movie before going into it so I had no real expectations for it. I knew once the movie started off however that it was going to be bad. I could tell the film had quite a low budget and honestly the storyline was just not that great and a little bit predictable. The characters were not that well developed and overall it was just horrible.
The only redeeming quality of this movie was the number of attractive men in the film, which was the only reason that I kept watching. Unless you have a free movie pass or you are part of a movie club like MoviePass, I would not recommend spending money on this film.

I sat and watched this movie one day after flipping past it every other time it constantly aired on cable TV. Everything about it was okay, except the stoop ladies and the sex scenes. I laughed at some parts and it kept my attention, but then came the inevitable ending. That's what blew the whole thing to me. I have never heard of this movie's director and I've never read the book this movie is based on, but the ending was horrible. They tried to do flashes and jump cuts between scenes and characters to wrap up the story. Bad idea! They didn't execute right and the ending was idiotic and just contrived and made the whole movie a waste of time to sit through. I would have been so heated if I had gone to see this in the theater. Mess!

I failed and fail to see the point of this film...
It's relentlessly boring from start to finish. The acting, dialogue, production and direction are well below par - with one, minor exception: Nafessa Williams who plays Krystal. The rest of the cast may has well have been absent and their attempts replaced with boards and voice overs.
All of the above aside... if I, as a Producer or Director, were to insist upon a 'All White Cast' - I'd be branded a racist... if you want tolerance, show it!

The plot, the ending in particular, is VERY contrived. The main (title) character has no real dramatic purpose and isn't much of a compelling figure. The creators were aiming to craft a crime-thriller but the director isn't skilled enough at establishing tone to make the whole affair feel like anything more than melodrama. Acting is so-so, which always upsets me in films that bring so many talented performers together. I put this on the director as more skillful ones bring the best out of their cast, something this one clearly could not. D. B. Woodside and Kellita Smith as the police detectives are the most believable in their roles. On the technical side, it's shot well enough but the editing in terms of cutting from scene-to-scene is almost student-level at times. Again, more than anything I just wish filmmakers that are able to assemble this much onscreen talent could match it with better writing/direction. Not the worst film you'll ever see but nowhere near one that could be classified as "good/quality."

4.2 average rating?
I thought this movie was great! The plot was fun at times, and serious when it needed to be. It made the best out of its low budget.
Two things I liked about it:
1. Darryl's relationships with the other characters were completely believable.
2. The atmosphere was perfect for what it was aiming for.
The only "over the top" scenes were the sex scenes, honestly. Besides that, it's a 10 out of 10.
Definitely a must see if you're a fan of Carl Weber or not.
