2001: A Space Odyssey - A Look Behind the Future (1966)
*** (out of 4)
This twenty-three minute documentary takes a look at the production of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY and like most promotional pieces it tries to sell the viewer on seeing the film in question. As futuristic and ahead of its time as the film is, this promotional piece certainly didn't age too well and I'm going to guess that it wasn't exactly a masterpiece when it was first shown.
Fans of the film will certainly find some interest in the film because it has interviews with several behind-the-scenes people who developed the sets and drew the sketches for the picture. The most interesting stuff deals with the making of the large sets and you really get a great idea of what all went into it. There are also interviews with Arthur C. Clarke who visits the set as well as the actors.
