The Villisca Axe Murders were committed on June 9, 1912 in the southwestern town of Villisca, Iowa. The six members of the Moore family and two guests were all found bludgeoned with head wounds due to an axe. While authorities had several suspects--some tried and acquitted--the case remains unsolved today.
Was a bigger theatrical success in Mexico than in the United States where it played in over 29 cities by cinema chains Cinèpolis and Cinemex. It was released under the title La Maldición de Villisca (The Curse of Villisca).
Opened at #4 at the Bolivia box office the week of Jan 11-14, 2018 with a gross of $26,034 opening behind Ferdinand (2017)
