Marco Hofschneider played a medieval pleasant, who befriends a monk in this short. Earlier in his career he already played that type of monk from the same period in Luther (2003)
Klaus Doldinger became interested in scoring the short, because it featured a scene with a mandrake in it (called Alraune in German). For a long time he has been fascinated with the magical and druidic aspects of this plant in fiction and even devoted the song "Mandragora" from his album "Second Passport" (1972) to this subject.
Ludger Pistor liked the screenplay and was briefly attached to the monk role in this short about the Middle Ages. It would have meant coming full circle for him since he started his career with a bit part as medieval monk in The Name of the Rose (1986)
The short is also listed in the database of the Library of Congress
(the de facto national library of the United States) due to the citation of
the film in The Performing Arts Encyclopedia and Jazz on the Screen:
a Jazz and Blues Filmography by David Meeker (as part of Klaus
Doldinger's body of work).
