Lowbrow in the extreme, Eddie Nova's Wicked Pictures feature "Sunny Goldmelons" harks back to the 1970s for a silly but often endearing tale of an innocent (until the action starts) young girl Melody Marks's sexual adventures in 1975. Crew is made up of veterans with decades of porn experience (Sammy Slater, Francois Clousot, James Nono) but a technical glitch also present in Wicked's just-prior release ("The 66th Day") indicates the label's lack of quality control: some interior scenes have soft-soft focus mismatched with sharp focus, most obvious in the prelude to the movie's fourth and final sex scene.
With fake accents, characters are introduced in Roosterport, Arkansas, with nominal villainess Chanel Camryn losing her accent briefly later in the show when she comically ends up via mistaken identity thrust into a porn movie shoot opposite Charles Dera and very tall blonde necomer Savvy Suxx (very poor choice of a stage name!).
Melody as Sunny is gifted by her grandma Ryan Ray (wearing an ill-fitting wig) with a family heirloom amulet to protect her, as she sends her to Chatsworth, California to make it in the world helped by her "Uncle" played (hammily of course, with poor improvisation) by Tommy Pistol.
She arrives and Tommy mistakes her for a hooker, her calling him "uncle" inspiring family role-play. After their sex scene, the real hooker, Nicole Doshi shows up and introduces her to pimp Robby Echo/Apples, who is even hammier, dressed up in 1975 pimp costume that really called for a Black actor (style is a takeoff on that blaxploitation classic like "The Mack" starring Max Julien). Doshi, Melody and Robby have a threesome scene, and then it's off to mocking porn production with James Bartholet as a director and James Nono (nice to see what he looks like) as his only crew member in sight.
Finale has Sunny's old boyfriend from Arkansas, Nathan Bronson styled as a wood-be cowboy, to the rescue, proposing to Sunny but only getting sex with her instead, all to setup a potential sequel at the ending.
A silly mistake (anachronism department) by writer-director Nova has Robby planning for Sunny to star in a sci-fi movie about The Penetrator, with plotline lifted from "The Terminator". Too bad the Cameron hit was released in 1984, nine years after "Sunny Goldmelons" is set.
Marks is the reason to watch the picture, as she wears her trademark braces and is the epitome of the porn Lolita in this Older/Younger XXX genre. Chanel and Doshi are quite attractive, as is "Savvy Suxx", who I was surprised to find has an even crummier alternate stage name "Sexbydesign". This kid needs a new agent.
