Ok, so there's a guy afraid of heights. But sure, I'll climb a mountain. The point of the show is for the GROUP to make the summit, so let's vote out the "threats". Threats to what? Actually making it to the top? Really dumb. I really do not understand casting a bunch of tubbies at real risk of heart attack. And the helicopter? Yeah, real scary. They make it look like it's flying so close to them and then give it a stupid name. I like Manu, but he's over-serious and not really needed. Some of these distances look they could be done in 2 hrs but it takes this bunch of dopes 2 days. Try casting folks who can actually do this next time.

Watching people face their fears is as much of a snooze fest and watching unfit people climb a mountain. But, the cinematography was excellent & the scenery was magnificent! Overall, I found the series entertaining.
Still, any reality show that rewards bad behavior is an immediate turn off. I almost stopped watching because of that. And there's absolutely no way for the players to protect themselves from elimination or those behaving badly.
The other major bummer is, the show is all about FEELINGS. The biggest prize award is based on the EMOTIONS of disgruntled players already eliminated. Because EMOTIONS are the number one most important thing for young people and that's boring as hell. Everything is about the feels. SMH. Imagine if our ancestors tried to build a country based on EMOTIONS. None of us would be here.
IMO, Dusty, Geoff & Nick were the most deserving to win (in that order) so I'm happy with the results. I pray for anyone in the hospital who gets Nurse Dennis Ratchet! Those who were carried along the way were delusional to think they could win - or were deserving of the win. I did like Manu's no-nonsense approach.
A lot of tweaking is needed if there's gonna be a season 2...or better yet, get fit/athletic contestants who can earn advantages with challenges on their way to the check points.

The players are playing like BB or survivor.
I thought the goal was to make it to the summit. If 4 player get there then everyone shares it? I don't think it is only one player?
It feels like the players think it is only one winner. Not sure how to watch this show. Voting off helpful and fit people does not make sense.
Very confusing - I thought everyone who makes it gets money.
Watching this I am now hoping they do not make it - keeping Amy in ????? Why????
The worst show ever.
Now I am watching it to see them lost the entire game? Or show or prize money
Why? Why? Why? The decisions for voting people off is so bad bad bad.

Unlike the now crushingly boring Survivor in its new dreadful 90 minute format of which 80 minutes is people yapping about who they're going to vote off you have here an exciting show with real risky challenges. On top of that most of these people are really likable and I usually frown when one gets voted or eliminated off. Ignore the naysayers who apparently don't like anything new. The scenery is incredibly gorgeous and some of these contestants are really struggling through the course. I'm guessing with some of the reviews here this show won't get renewed and that's a real shame because this is the most exciting reality show I've seen in years.

I understand all the negative comments; however, I kind of like the fact that people competing were not extremely fit like Survivor and The Amazing Race. I didn't understand the nasty attitude of many players at the beginning when they were supposed to work together to make it to the end. I was expecting a lot of camaraderie and instead there was the typical manipulation. I gave it a high score because I love physical competitions and enjoyed the challenges they had to overcome. The scenery was beautiful, and I just wished I could have been on the show. I hope they do have another in the future with improvements and make the challenges more difficult so people will drop out rather than be voted out. I would much prefer a show where only the strong, physically and mentally would be able to finish. If you fall from the rope you don't get another chance. You're out. And no safety ropes....just kidding.

I had high expectations for this show. Who could make it to the top and share in the $. You want everyone to make it but not at the expense of the group. Tough decisions to be made. Instead, the contestants think they are on "Survivor" and last man standing gets the $. They scheme and connive and stupidly vote off their "competition". It's as if they were offering a million $ to EVERYONE who could climb Everest and they vote off the guides and sherpas. Then, the show itself picked some contestants who are so out of shape they struggle with basic hiking let alone mountain climbing. And when many of them would fail on the vertical more difficult climbs the show wants you to believe that they "persevered" and "overcame". Instead, you can see that the "safety" line practically hauls them up. Any accomplishments are now totally unbelievable.
If you love the outdoors as much as my wife and I, then you'll fully enjoy the breathtaking scenery; however, other than that, this show has exactly zero redeeming qualities. We started watching because we thought this show would be different than other reality shows, but it turns out it's just more of the same BS. They voted off the only person with any redeeming qualities whatsoever. I think it was because, although he was very athletic and basically made for this sort of thing, he was too boring for the producers. Therefore, he ad to go. Some of the challenges that the contestants have balked at look like great amusement park rides. We will watch to the end in the great hopes that they fail to reach the Summit by the deadline.

We thought this would be a good family show, full of feats of physical prowess, mental toughness, and teamwork. Sure, let's vote off the really athletic, nice people for this group competition where we're on a deadline and have to scale a mountain! It's all about "social game" and honestly none of them deserve to win the prize, the way they keep toxic baggage for fear of voting against the numbers instead of voting off the dead weight.
Turns out it's just a really annoying copycat of Big Brother on a mountain with overly dramatized "challenges" that you'd do on a cruise excursion. Sigh. I'll just watch Alone or Survivor again.

So if you had 14 days to reach the top of a mountain in order to win money, and won't get any money if you don't, would you start picking off the athletic people? Well that's just the beginning of what these contestants do. It's like they completely forget they are on a deadline, and are playing a strategic game, mind you, without using common sense strategy. They act all pious saying I won't vote out weak players. Yet these weak players are why they have yet to make a checkpoint on time, easily being over 24 hours behind and 1 checkpoint behind, from errors made on the FIRST day. I barely made it through the 3rd episode, because I was so mad at the players for playing so stupidly! It is overwhelmingly evident that no money will be won by anyone, so what's the point in watching? The producers are going to have to pull a unicorn out their a$$es if they want this to be successful. Actually , I don't even think that would help; it's that bad. Do yourself a favor, just skip this. I guarantee there won't be a second season.
Who in there right mind would get rid of the most perfect leader, the person who got them through everything, to put himself in that #1 position? - So IMO just a theory but after checking, (have a habit of checking bios), it appears he is the only one that was in a previous movie or comedy put out by the same company that did 20 Year Old Virgin - so I am assuming he did it for self promotion (more face-time!!), unlike some of the others who had no bios other than "self" who had one reason or another or a real athletic ability and desire to reach the summit and actually help the team succeed as a team. This was a disgrace to backstab Dusty for the purpose of putting yourself in the position! And the puppet master military woman - OK she is capable however there are times when a male strength may be necessary and desirable with such a diverse team which actually did happen a few times as Dusty helped some survive. What is with that? No support from her either? Can't stand it anymore either. Not looking forward to the final. My missing 8 stars go to Dusty as he was the real star in this show. The scripting of this show does seem a little too obvious - Dennis' humor was funny but he played the part of the Korean Cockroach a little hard. The moms coalition formed a clique and the talented military hide their identities in fear of being kicked off? Makes 0 sense!

The pacing of this entire series is so slow and overly dramatic. For a competition show, the premise was strong! Going through a harsh environment and tackling obstacles? Sounds cool! The stars selected for this are all awful though and overly dramatic. The shows pacing DRAGS on where every star reitterates the same point umpteen times before they move on to the next dialogue piece for everyone to recycle over and over every episode. None of them have a sense of competition or strategy. If the goal is to make it to the top, you would think you'd vote off weak characters. Nope! They vote off the strong athletic characters because they're making everyone else "feel bad/intimidated". That along with the host who has this total, "I'm a tough guy" persona just makes this entire series unwatchable except for the views and actual 10 minutes (of 40 minutes) of events.
It's so much filler with fake drama and repetition.

They vote off the strong players and struggle carrying on the weak players. Too much time discussing the vote! Yes, they do challenging things and encourage one another but overall there is alot of negativity. It seems very dangerous for people who have never done this before and are not fit to do it. Some of the people have pushed thru day after say with injuries. I won't watch another season of it! Survivor is so much better! Again it's frustrating and disappointing to watch. Its not very realistic either- never see them eating or the call of nature. Very produced and unrealistic. I wish I hadn't started watching!

Ditto to what everyone else has said about it being a social-only game and not any other type of competition. It feels even more fake and over produced than the typical reality series. Definitely a big step down from Survivor and the Amazing Race. It is a little interesting when they have obstacles, but the photography usually only shows close-up shots so it is hard to believe the challenge is as difficult as they lead you to believe. It's guess it's okay if you can't find something else. I'll be surprised if there's a second season and won't watch it if there is. I wish I hadn't kept watching as it never gets better.

This show reeks of scripting, staging, and phony reality. We don't watch most of the reality shows because of the phoniness. I fully expect that this show will ultimately make the re-occurring articles about phony shows like Dancing With the Stars, all the Bachelor/Bachelorette, and dozens of others.
The characters are not believable. Dennis was likely paid to be conniving. Beckylee is an impressive athlete, but her back-stabbing persona is not believable. Bo and some of the other heavy, out-of-shape contestants surely were much less able to compete. Does anyone believe that they literally had no food for nearly 36 hours? I do believe that there are many friendships that formed, but I do not believe that there wasn't more monetary compensation for what they did in their acting jobs. I like the characters for entertainment, but I don't buy much of anything else. I don't believe for a minute that they would vote out those who help the group reach their daily targets, unless the voting is all scripted. I don't believe the alliances, either. I anxiously wait for the agreements to expire so that the contestants can talk freely.

There is continual pressure from the host about the group falling behind but somehow the team miraculously makes their check points. This, despite wasting significant amounts of time fretting over the difficulty of the "challenges".
After watching much of the show, the decisions to vote people off seem to make no sense. Many of the contestants seem to be characters cast to drive drama. It really feels like this show is completely scripted. Honestly looking at the actual summit, some of these people not only don't have any business being on a mountain like that, there's no way they could really make it, yet here they are! Based on what I've seen I'd prefer to seen none of these people win the prize because they don't make sensible decisions and it feels like they were helped to the top.
I would not watch any future seasons.

I'm going to just steal the review from person below as I couldn't explain it any better or agree more, and I love Survivor. This is at worst a wannabe::
Utterly Ridiculous!

The first episode begins with the host explaining to the participants they need to climb the mountain. They ALL act as if they don't know what to do in order to climb the mountain. Why on earth would they allow these folks to participate in a challenge that they are clearly not physically fit to complete!? It's a recipe for disaster and not entertaining at all. This is just a bad idea all around. One of the women says a few times she's never even been camping. WHAT. Just stop this ridiculousness right now. It's really embarrassing. Maybe they are trying to make fun of Americans? I don't really know how to take this, especially since this is a CBS show. I promise you will be disappointed. I was really excited for this after I watched the trailer so it's false advertising.

This is just like watching Nascar, where every segment is no different than the last. Oh look, they're making another left turn! Jeff Dunham and Bubba could make a really good skit out of this one! But no, they're climbing another mountain! Wow. Not! Most boring show ever! And the "host" has the most monotone and irritating voice ever. Definitely turn your TV off and look for a better use of your time. Even the silence of turning your tv off is better than keeping the TV on and tuned to this network. Someone there will be losing their job over this one. The CBS lineup for the fall must really suck this year.
