Family Crime Thriller. No violence. Excellent story and story telling. Engaging and a good finish. Could have been made 10min shorter by cutting down the unnecessary songs. But can't really complain as it was a total Paisa wasul movie.

Just watched it for the second time. I have to increase it to nine stars this time.
Shiboprosad ATE. He effing ATE. There ain't many actors in India right now who could have nailed Bikram Pramanik's role like Shiboprosad did. The facial expressions, the voice modulation, the eyes... he excelled in everything!
One curious thing about current Bangla film industry is that amongst the three male actors, whom I consider to be the best of the best and not worse than any internationally acclaimed artist, two of them are actually directors, and do acting in films only as a hobby (Koushik Ganguly and Shiboprosad). The third, and, only exception here is Anirban Bhattacharya, although he has also helmed two phenomenal projects as a director.
Anyways, back to Bohurupi, anyone from WB reading this, go watch Bohurupi if you haven't already. It's not a flawless film. But you'll have a good time that I can guarantee.
PS: Apart from Shiboprosad, the music department also ate btw.
Dakatiya Banshi is an actual proper and FUN item number in a Bangla film in last many years. Shibu-Nandita films usually have a item-number-ish song in it, but none of them are as fun as Dakatiya Banshi. They've touched a new height with this.
The last song in the film - Behula Sundori, which, as on 14th of October, hasn't released yet, is also a banger. Juxtaposition of this song and the climax legit gave me tears. The editing and building up was superb!!

"Bohurupi" is a well-crafted film by the famous director duo Nandita Ray and Shiboprasad Mukhopadhyay. The ensemble cast includes Abir Chatterjee, Shiboprasad, Ritabhari, Koushani, and many renowned actors. The story and backdrop are excellent and very rooted. The music is well-placed. The only negative aspect of the movie is an unnecessary subplot revolving around Pori, played by Ritabhari, which hampers the fluidity of the screenplay. The editing could have been crisper. Shiboprasad Mukherjee steals the show, and Koushani Mukherjee delivers her career-best performance. The others are apt in their respective roles. Overall, it's a great watch.

"Bohurupi" is an intriguing Bengali film that masterfully intertwines drama and suspense, focusing on the thrilling cat-and-mouse game between a cop and a bank robber. The story revolves around the robber's use of multiple disguises, including that of shape-shifters or Bohurupis, showcasing his complex motivations and the societal pressures that lead him to crime. Abir Chatterjee and Shiboprosad Mukherjee deliver compelling performances, supported by the strong portrayals of Ritabhari Chakraborty and Koushani Mukherjee, who add emotional depth to the narrative. The film's cinematography vividly captures the nuances of Bengali culture, while the sharp screenplay and engaging dialogues keep viewers invested. "Bohurupi" is a thought-provoking exploration of identity and morality, leaving a lasting impact.

Bohurupi is what we can call Bengali Cinema's answer to the Bollywood Masalas and South Extravaganzas, in its truest sense. Yet it never skipped a bit to beat to the tune of the heartbeat of Bengali audience. There lies Bohurupi's real success. Nandita Roy's home-grown story based on a real incident of bank robbery leaves the audience with an edgy afterthought about the system in our society. And I was thoroughly hooked to the screen presence of Shiboprosad Mukherjee. What a knock-out performance he has given to it! Added to it are the earthy tunes and melodies. Koushani and Ritabhari have done a good job as well! And last but not the least, Abir Chatterjee's Sumanta is the perfect foil to Shiboprosad Mukherjee's Bikram. Bohurupi has all the ingredients to be loved by class and mass alike.

Bohurupi emerges as a standout masala entertainer, skillfully weaving together a tapestry of emotions, romance, drama, and action in just the right balance. The performances are stellar, with each actor bringing depth to their roles, including those in supporting positions, who enhance the overall narrative. Shiboprosad Mukherjee shines brightly, but the ensemble cast collectively elevates the film's impact. With its meticulous attention to detail and high production values, Bohurupi is a testament to the rich storytelling tradition of Bengali cinema. It successfully delivers an engaging and entertaining experience, celebrating local culture while keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.

"Bohurupi" is a captivating Bengali film that artfully blends drama and thrill while exploring the theme of chase between a cop and a bank robber. The narrative centers around a robber, who adopts various personas while committing the crimes. This journey not only reflects his personal struggles but also critiques societal pressures that give birth to criminals. The film shines with strong performances, particularly from the leads, Abir Chatterjee and Shiboprosad Mukherjee and the two women in their lives, Ritabhari Chakraborty and Koushani Mukherjee. All of them bring depth to their multifaceted characters. The cinematography beautifully captures the vibrant essence of Bengali culture, puts the light on Bohurupis, while the screenplay is laced with strong dialogues that keep the audience engaged. Overall, "Bohurupi" is a thought-provoking cinematic experience that resonates well beyond its runtime.
Bohurupi is a vibrant and engaging film! The blend of comedy, action, and drama seems to have created an entertaining experience. Shiboprosad Mukherjee's performance clearly stands out, and the attention to cinematography, especially the portrayal of rural Bengal, adds a beautiful visual layer. It's refreshing to see a film that prioritizes entertainment without heavy-handed social commentary, allowing audiences to enjoy the ride. The use of music and intimate scenes, like Pori's journey through her troubled mind, adds depth and emotion to the story. Overall, it is a very well-crafted film that balances various elements seamlessly!
Bohurupi comes out as a quintessential masala entertainer, masterfully blending emotions, romance, drama, and action in perfect harmony. At its core lies a deeply rooted story set in Bengal, rich with cultural nuances that enhance the narrative. The film follows Bikram, a character wronged by both the system and his family, as he embarks on a series of audacious bank heists, strategically targeting localities under the watchful eye of IC Sumanta Ghoshal. This premise sets the stage for an exhilarating cat-and-mouse chase that unfolds with captivating tension. The acting is commendable across the board, with each performer, including those in smaller roles, contributing significantly to the film's success. Shiboprosad Mukherjee shines, but the ensemble cast elevates the storytelling, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere. The film's production values and attention to detail reflect the care and dedication invested in its making. Bohurupi is a refreshing addition to Bengali cinema, offering audiences a well-crafted, entertaining experience that celebrates local culture while delivering thrilling escapism.

The director duo has a track record of turning every kind story to a feel-good, sugar-coated, superficial narratives and they didn't divert much this time too.
In almost every scene you will feel the smell of shallow and superficial treatment of characters. The dialogues in this movies are cheesy and not realistic. The person, on whose life this movie is based on, is a flamboyant man in real life but hey have replaced all the grittiness of his life with emotional drama and unrealistic situations.
This movie is being promoted as action thriller but there are only a couple of action sequences in it. I don't look for action sequences in everey movie but if something is classified as action thriller there should be some action in the that. This not the only example of fake promotion tactics by this director duo, they have been doing this since a long time. Their first movie, "Ichchhe" was a great movie but after that they haven't really made any good movie since.

This film is a standout example of mainstream entertainment, seamlessly blending action, romance, drama, relationship dynamics, and socio-political themes- elements that are rare in the Bengali film industry for some time. Yet, it manages to avoid becoming a chaotic mix. Anchored by a solid screenplay, it captures the socio-economic shifts of the 90s, the decline of the trade union movement, changes and crises in personal values, and the gradual marginalization of certain communities. Against this rich and complex backdrop, the movie had a lot of promise, and it delivers on many fronts- especially with its subtle anti-establishment undertone that feels strikingly relevant at times.
Based on true events, it's a reminder that sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. However, while the directors' commitment to realism is admirable, it might have kept the film from reaching the heights of a grand cinematic spectacle. Even so, it brings a breath of fresh air to mainstream Bengali cinema, shifting the focus back to grassroots stories. Nandita Roy and Shibprasad Mukherjee seem to have cracked the code, with Shibprasad once again proving himself as a masterful actor. It's a timely film that will hopefully inspire others to step out of their comfort zones and explore new narratives.

Bohurupi centers around Abir on the trail of a Shibu who changes his appearance for each bank heist. While the premise has potential, the execution falls flat, lacking the twists and turns that keep audiences engaged. Unfortunately, the writing and direction do not elevate this intriguing premise. The pacing drags, and the plot feels stretched thin, leading to a rather dull experience.
Ritabhari Chakraborty's performance as the Abir's wife is particularly disappointing, detracting from the film's emotional weight. Her acting feels over-dramatic and uninspired, leaving viewers detached from the story. In contrast, Shibu and Koushani manage to deliver more compelling performances, but even they struggle against the weak script.
Visually, the film resembles a low-budget YouTube production, lacking the polish and creativity that could have made it visually engaging.
In summary, while the concept holds promise, the film ultimately fails to deliver a satisfying viewing experience due to flat performances, a predictable plot, and subpar production quality.

"Bohurupi" is a Bengali film that, despite its shortcomings in cinematography, stands out as a masterclass in storytelling, effectively blending humor and drama to create a captivating viewing experience. It offers a rich tapestry of human emotions and relationships that resonates with audiences on multiple levels.
At the heart of the film lies its exploration of identity and the roles we play in our daily lives. The title, "Bohurupi," which translates to "the many-faced," perfectly encapsulates the essence of the narrative. The protagonist's journey reflects the complexity of modern existence, where individuals often wear different masks to navigate the world around them. This theme is not only relatable but also deeply thought-provoking, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own lives and the personas they adopt in various situations.
The film is skillfully structured, with a narrative that deftly balances moments of lightheartedness with profound emotional depth. The humor is genuine and well-timed, providing relief during more intense scenes. It's a testament to the filmmakers' ability to weave laughter into the fabric of serious topics, making the film accessible and enjoyable for a wide audience. This blend of genres creates a unique atmosphere that allows viewers to engage with the characters on a deeper level, fostering empathy and understanding.
One of the standout elements of "Bohurupi" is its performances. The cast delivers remarkable portrayals that bring authenticity and nuance to their roles. Each character is well-crafted, showcasing a range of emotions that mirror the complexities of real life. The chemistry among the actors adds to the film's charm, making their interactions feel genuine and relatable. It's a joy to watch how they navigate their relationships, filled with both humor and heartfelt moments.
While the cinematography may not reach the heights of some other films, the strength of the storytelling and performances compensates for this shortcoming. The filmmakers focus on the narrative and character development, ensuring that the emotional core of the story shines through. This decision highlights the idea that a compelling story does not solely rely on visual spectacle; rather, it is the connections we make with the characters and their journeys that leave a lasting impression.
The soundtrack of "Bohurupi" deserves special mention as well. It complements the film's tone beautifully, enhancing emotional scenes and providing a backdrop that enriches the viewing experience. The music often serves as a character in itself, guiding the audience through the highs and lows of the narrative. It encapsulates the spirit of the film, elevating its impact and making certain moments even more memorable.
As the credits roll, the themes of "Bohurupi" linger in the mind. It prompts discussions about identity, relationships, and the roles we play in society. The film encourages viewers to embrace their true selves, shedding the masks that may have been worn for too long. This powerful message is what makes "Bohurupi" more than just a film; it becomes a mirror reflecting our own lives and choices.
In a world where films often prioritize spectacle over substance, "Bohurupi" reminds us of the power of storytelling. It proves that even with limitations in certain technical aspects, a film can leave a profound impact if it has heart, wit, and relatable themes. I wholeheartedly recommend "Bohurupi" to anyone seeking a film that challenges, entertains, and resonates with the complexities of human experience. It is a journey worth taking, one that will undoubtedly stay with you long after you've seen it.

Bohurupi shall stand as a testament in today's time, when the entire world is engulfed with the right wing politics, where the normal is not normal anymore, where citizens seemed lost, almost as a part of a zombie movie. Bohurupi stands tall to ask the questions that scare us, eventually that scares "them". It questions a very primal belief system, are we going to fight for us?
Talking about the technicalities of the film, the film foreshadows a personal crisis of a super-cop laid with his better half with bipolar disorder and a mill accountant who finds himself in a circumstantial mishap related to the murder of a union leader which then leads him to take matter into his own hands. The camera work of the film needs a special mention, as the constant focus on the landscape of the human face, made the story stay true to its title Bohurupi, as truly "Human Beings are the real Bohurupis".
The Background Score deserves all the accolades, as it uplifts the film by quite a notch, and is quite beautifully renditioned in making us believe the madness of this world and also the love in it. Performances have a massive role to play, but it comes together only when the entire team is on the same page about telling a good story, and that effort shows, Shibu da with his stint as Bickram Pramanick made a very run of the mill person make us believe in the impossible, to wear three hats of the director and an actor and also the producer must not have been an easy task, but his notes were spot on, as he delivers quite a loving look at what the life of a normal citizen might be if their life is subjected to a series of mishaps. He portrays the vigour of what should be done once subjected to such pressure. Shibu da's eyes are absolutely magical, the way he looks at Jhimli, shall be something that makes the audience also fall in love. Abir Chatterjee looks like a million bucks, he makes Sumanta Ghoshal a very real person, a person that cannot take no for an answer, his backstory although undefined, but could be formulated and made into a spin-off film, as he surely deserves it. Ritabhari was brilliant in her portrayal, the ways she played the anxiety ridden wife, through a scene that broke all boundaries of self control, made me shed a tear. Koushani as Jhimli, was good, but I personally feel that she could have been better, there was somehow a bit of deviation from who the character is and what she played, maybe due to her urban roots, but that is just my personal opinion, but yes absolutely loved her in the song "Dakatiya Banshi".
Overall Bohurupi belongs to Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee's love for cinema. The sheer love they have for the audience, and also for pushing the envelope everytime. Thank you for gifting us this story and this message. "Shorkaar tomaar maarle, tomraao maaro shaala shorkaarer" 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

This movie is so good that I want to rewatch it. From the very beginning to the end, I didn't feel bore just for a second. After a long time, I watched such a high quality film. Really miss these kinds of film. I always love Bengali movies. Hope they mske more movies like this. Always support Bengali movie. They really think out of the box. And at first I didn't recognize Mr. Sibaprasad sir, but after hearing his voice, I recognized. Outstanding acting of everyone. They all lookes very natural. And also love the Pari part, this message is indeed in the society nowadays.

This pair of shiboprosad mukherjee and nandita roy never fails to amaze us. I mean the story line the plots and mainly the output they wanted to bring is so clear. The story is about a cop and thief, and the entire hall was clapping whenever the cops were getting humiliated. " ami manush k valobeshe churi korbo", this turned out so true man. The entire hall was clapping and shouting. It was almost a housefu show, i watched the movie at Star Theater. Overall experience is awesome. I have seen all of the movies shiboprosad mukherjee has been a part of and it has always been a pleasure to my eyes, ears, and my mind. Thank you shiboprosad mukherjee and nandita roy for gifting us all this amazing films. My respest for you guys increses day by day.

I highly recommend Bohurupi to anyone who hasn't seen it yet; go and watch it with family or friends. It's an exceptionally engaging and well-crafted movie, certainly one of the finest productions in Bengali cinema. It has great story, good music, comedy, action, twist and everything else you want in a blockbuster movie.
Thank you Windows Productions for giving us the opportunity to witness such a nice movie which is soo much rooted to the bengali culture. Hats off to Nandini and Shiboprosad duo.
The acting in the movie was soo good, Shiboprosad, Abir, Koushani, Ritabhori and everyone else gave their best.
And last but not the least Noni Chora Das Baul, without you the music in the movie wouldn't have reached such great height !

🎬 Movie Review: Bahurupi (2024)
Genre: Period-Heist-Thriller
Semi-Spoiler
Story: Bikram, an officer at a jute mill, is falsely accused in a murder case, ruining his personal and social life. How he takes his revenge unfolds in this 2.5-hour-long film.
Shiboprosad Mukherjee takes on the triple roles of writer, director, and actor in this movie. Typically, managing multiple roles can affect a film's quality. So, how well does this movie perform?
✅ Positives:
Core Story: The narrative is strong, delivering a relevant social message tied to the era it portrays.
Performances: Both Abir Chatterjee and Shiboprosad give solid performances. Although the supporting cast had limited screen time, they did justice to their roles.
Cultural Representation: The film makes a commendable effort to depict the cultural and traditional aspects of the era.
Climactic Twist: The climax delivers an enjoyable twist.
📛 Negatives:
Boring Narrative Progression: As the story progresses, it becomes less engaging due to the ineffective depiction of the 90s and the lack of unexpected turns in the screenplay, except for the climax.
Miscasting: While Shiboprosad acted well, he seemed miscast in this role. Opposite Abir, Shiboprosad's portrayal of a "grey-shaded" character lacked impact. The rivalry between the two fails to engage, as the imbalance between a star and a non-star feels noticeable.
Weak Action Sequences: The action scenes were poorly executed.
Unimpressive Heist Sequence: The bank robbery scene lacked excitement and felt unrealistic due to the addition of unnecessary comedic elements.
Excessive Runtime: The movie could have been trimmed by 20 minutes for a more concise and engaging experience.
Final Thoughts:
Bahurupi is an average film. Managing writing, directing, and acting simultaneously was a challenging feat for Shiboprosad, which affected the overall output. While it has potential, it falls short of delivering the level of thrill and engagement that movies like Roktabeej achieved. If you have time to spare, it's worth a one-time watch.
Personal Rating: 6/10 (Decent, but Unremarkable)

The story, dialogues and direction by #NanditaRoy and #ShiboprosadMukherjee is brilliant. They are true to their craft and their narrative style is simple and linear mostly.
The script is fairly engaging.
#IndranathMarick being the cinematographer has done a great job.
#MalayLaha's editing is crisp.
Music Directors #AnupamRoy, #BonnieChakraborty, #ArnabDutta, #NaniChoraDasBaul, #SilajitMajumdar, #PrabuddhaBanerjee has presented some melodious and foot-tapping chords to remember, keeping folk as its raw base, which is applaudable. The background score by Bonnie Chakraborty is good too.
Costume Designer #JayantiSen & assistant costume stylist #SampurnaBasu has used the costumes in such a seemless manner that it never looked beyond the character sketches. They looked tailor-made for the characters, which might have helped the latter to get into the skin of them.
As per the performances are concerned, #AbirChatterjee as SI (later OC) Sumanta Ghosal is great with his screen presence as usual, but #ShiboprosadMukherjee as the serial bank dacoit and con artist Bikram Pramanik alias Chuni Kumar / Bablu Sarkar / Eklas Chowdhury steals the show. #RitabhariChakraborty as Sumanta's mentally unstable wife Pori Ghoshal has made her presence amply felt with her bipolar character sketches as much as she could do. #KoushaniMukherjee as the lady-pickpocket and Bikram's partner-in-crime wife Jhimli Pramanik is another discovery and left the audience bewildered with her acting and loooks. #RajatGanguly as Salim Khan, Bikram's cellmate in jail (Guest Appearance) has made her presence amply felt in an unique look. #ProdeepBhattacharya as Khuro, Bikram's partner-in-crime was fabulous as usual. #ReshmiSen as Pori's Mother was good. #SujanNeelMukherjee as SP Rajat Dhar, Sumanta's boss was good. The film has got a plethora of special appearances, namely #RohitMukherjee as Bank Manager, #KamalChatterjee as Chhoku Da, #ManasiSinha as Bank Manager, #SubhrajitDutta as Bank Manager, #BhaskarBanerjee as Bank Manager and Silajit Majumdar as a Baul singer was wonderful in their parts.
Production by #Windows has made a fantastic film.
Don't afford to miss this ultimate cop drama. Definitely a Must Watch. 👍🏻

We need more frustration from Abir, more revenge drama from shiboprasad, a piercing bgm, some kick ass action and few mind blowing twists to make this appealing to a pan Indian audience.
Heist films are not new but it should be served with suave and style but keeping in mind the budget for our Bengali films if not a Dhoom 2 atleast a special 26 can be expected.
Nevertheless the Bengali film industry rely on subtleness and simplicity keeping in mind the majority of theatre going audience who are in the senior citizen category, so yes it will appeal to them and if I go by the box office news, it's already a blockbuster.

Movie Review: Bengali Film Bohurupi screening in cinema halls near you!! ( PUJO RELEASE 🙏🙏)
Bohurupi is a heist action thriller film written and directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee. It stars Shiboprosad Mukherjee, Abir Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty and Koushani Mukherjee in the lead roles.
Coming from the same team that brought us Raktabeej last year , Bohurupi tells the story of Chuni Babu ( Shibhoprasad ) , a simple accountant who becomes collateral damage in a worker - mill owner feud & unknowingly wronged by an honest police officer ( Abir Chatterjee) . He vows revenge on the system by meticulously planning a series of bank heists which also tarnish the name of the police officer. A cat & mouse game then ensues with the mouse clearly holding the upper hand.. however for how long .. is the question??
Shibhoprasad in particular has acted exceptionally well as the victim who has been wronged by the system . However he doesn't go on the rampage and take the violent path & targets only the system. His tag line " we will rob people with love not violence" is literally followed as he executes the robberies and escapes under the guise of the bohurupi's or Bhaands .. blending in the crowds when the police are searching for stereotypical criminals on the run .
Abir has also acted very well, initially as the jubilant young inspector who unknowingly indicts an innocent man... And further on as a frustrated senior officer who is unable to catch the antagonist who calls him and taunts him after each heist.
Kaushani Mukherjee & Ritabhari Chakraborty as the wives of Shibhoprasad & Abir too add emotional value to the story.
However there r too many songs which slow down the narrative. Some action scenes seem too filmy and a bit of realism wudve been nice to see.
The film however plays to the gallery and I was happy to see the show houseful with people enjoying themselves !!
Decent watch .. going with 3/5 for this one.. adios 🙂!!
