"Ranma 1/2 was one of my favorite shows growing up, and I watched it religiously on Animax, then revisited it on YouTube countless times.
Seeing it get a reboot is incredibly exciting! While the updated animation can feel a bit off at times, I'm gradually adjusting to it. The heart of the story remains intact, and the chemistry between Ranma and Akane continues to shine through.
The action scenes are brilliantly choreographed, and the voice actors do a fantastic job. I just hope this reboot gives the series the satisfying conclusion it deserves."
I have watched till episode 3 and I cannot wait for new characters to show up. I hope this review finds useful to readers.

This is a childhood favorite of mine. I am lucky to understand Japanese and watch it in Japanese so to hear the original actors voices again has me feeling very nostalgic. The animation choice for the fight scene was interesting and the sound effect in Japanese on the screen like the manga was also interesting. It took me a second to get used to it. I am bummed they didn't keep Ranmas girl hair bright red. But I'm excited to watch the rest. I kept pulling up the original episode to compare and I think they did really well. I hope they are able to re do every episode and not just the 12 that they have planned.
At this point, I've only watched Episodes 1-4, so please note that.
I've read the first dozen manga, and own every episode of the original release / OAVs / movies. This was one of my first non-TV released animes, ever. This show is a part of my youth, and is one I love to this day. And I will say that the remake is a love letter to it all. Manga, series, OAV and movies.
Are some moments in the original better? Absolutely. Is the animation different and taking time to get used to? No doubt. Was the original one of the only dubs in the 90s (with Tenchi Muyo!) that was as good as the original Japanese? 100%. But this show is really good. They are doing it for a more modern audience, but the humor is the same. The moments hit all the right points (from Ranma running along the walls to Akane constantly lifting large object to slam on his head... the way he carries her as he jumps... the way the arguments go... all of it). The FEEL is the same. It is different, but that doesn't make it bad.
I give it a 9, versus a 10, because, yes, I do prefer the original ("And I'm better built to boot"... way better than the line they used in this one). But that doesn't mean it's bad. Take it from an old head who has been watching this since 1995... give it a tru, and you will love it.

Watcher from the first series when I was 10 to 12 years old, I also read the full manga (twice) and did a rewatch of the whole original series in the mid 2000's.
Now I quite enjoy watching this with my daughter (10 years old also so the loop is finished). Not only do I like the anime but I also enjoy seing my children launghing at the same misunderstandings and jokes!
The reboot is quite in synch with the manga and has also quite taken from the original series of anime. Yes the hair color for Ranma/girl has changed (but Rumiko didn't quite think it was faithful to the colored panels from the manga at the time) and we have some level of censorship (nipples mainly) while still maintaining the nudity but those are not really quite that bothering.
Another difference is the choice of including textured panels, some changes of colors/contrasts in some scene and we have quite a few interjections which are reminders of the manga. I think it is quite interesting, rather than obnoxious.
Lastly we need to speak about the things which are better here as I saw many bad reviews on this anime solely based on the love for the old one. The old anime was far from perfect: We had a lot of fillers, the pace was slow and some episodes were just not interesting. Also we lacked some very important arcs from the manga. In addition as, it was older, the old animation had a retro feel which was attractive for us but it was quite less appealing for the younger public.
Here the pace is quite faster, which is not a sacrifice to the story. It is quite dynamic and I think it will help prevent some episodes with a lower rating. Also it will help advance in the manga quite faster, which in turn will allow us (let's hope) to have a full manga animated.
Lastly this anime allows quite a few new young people to have access to this wonderful series which itself is quite a win in my point of view.

This reboot is awesome. Its the same story as before. A boy named Ranma Saotome who is a martal artist falls in to the cursed spring of the dead girl. When ever he is hit by cold water he becomes a girl. He mush be hit by warm water to become a boy again. He is forced into an arranged marrage with a girl named Akane Tendo. Akane and Ranma have a love hate relatanionship that is exasperated by the arranged marrage. Several other characters are in love with Ranma and Akane respectivly. There is a martal art for litteerally everything. In the original Japanese version the original actors returned. In the English version we got brand new voice actors. I am so used to the orignal dub actors and I like them the best but the new actors are great too.

Everything is more faithful to the manga since the facial expressions, the fighting scenes are great, they did put an effort on it , there are a lot NOT real fans of Ranma who complained about the censorship (the manga wasn't about that) or colors of the hair of Ranma when is a girl ...but in the manga it wasn't a fact about that her hair color was red, Rumiko wasn't happy with the first Ranma 90's (for me was good) but it did have a lot of episodes that wasn't relevant to the real history, and never developed the essence of main couple romance. Support this anime, it's doing things right, we will LOVE the real finale of RUMIKO story and not the rushed ending they gave us in the 90s.

I had my doubts about this one because the other recent reboot of a Rumic series, Urusei Yatsura, doesn't cut it since the humor is just too dated. For those too young to remember, Rumiko Takahashi was arguably the first female manga superstar back in the 1980s. There were female mangaka but they had been limited to genres specifically aiming at young women, Rumic was the first to become a mainstream craze (CLAMP came later). She's probably most famous for Inuyasha because it ran forever, Ranma 1/2 was a very successful manga but the anime only ran for two seasons. The story has the light zany characteristics of her work, teenagers trapped in gender-bending complicated romance constellations, but it's the constant action which make the manga - and this series - such a delight. For us older ones, it's a reminder that times back then were a lot less complicated, for the younger ones, enjoy! There is nothing to get mad about in this one.
This is the third anime series, following the first 18-episode series in 1989 and the second 143-episodes from 1989 - 1992.
This third series so far seem to follow the other TV anime versions in that it deviates from the manga series in some plot points.
So the question is: Why do we need yet another anime series? Yes, this one has updated visuals. Yes, many of the original voice actors are here. Yes, overall it's entertaining.
But I think - and this in my own preference - it would have been better to remake the three live-action films and the one live-action special into anime versions.
Or else to have this third anime series be more true to the original manga.
But if you're new to the Ranma story, then yes please enjoy this new anime series.

I watched Ranma when I was younger, so I was initially skeptical, as I'm not usually a fan of reboots. But this show truly knocks it out of the park! It stays true to the original source material while adding a fresh twist. The characters are super likeable without ever getting on your nerves. Some parts of the story are totally absurd, but that just makes it even more fun to watch!
It's got humor, emotion, and tons of action. The charm of this series really shines through - it feels like the creators knew exactly what they wanted to bring to the table, and they nailed it. Great animation style and music too. I'm really enjoying it, and I'm sure anime fans will feel the same!

Personally I give the anime a full 8.5/10, It does recapture the Original anime and manga.
My only complaints Are the voice performances They sound pretty wired because I watched the 90s anime and the dubs voice actors were quite amazing! To hear but hopefully I grow to like them!
I do like the animation! And the way it's more like manga then the anime from 1989 I like The way that they are going with this!
The Frist episode 1 was actually true to the original series and manga! I give it a. 9.5/10! Because on how it looks and the way it stuck true to the source material! And the story!
Impressive I hope The series gets better so we can get this 8.5/10 to a 9/10!

Ranma 1/2 is a show that didn't need to be re-made. The original series is amazing, and the voice acting was great. This is okay, it's still faithful to the original material, but it just seems unnecessary to remake it. I can only assume that either A) Viz Video no longer has the license for this show, B) Viz Video doesn't want to let Netflix use it, or C) Someone thinks no one will watch the original series, so they are remaking the entire thing. Who knows what the typically out-of-touch suits at Netflix are thinking.
TLDR; just watch the original Viz Video series. It's worth it. The same goes for the current re-release of Urusei Yatsura. The original series was also amazing, and the remake just falls flat.

Remakes have never been seen with good eyes.
After all, there is a large legion of fans who do not like certain things being changed about their favorite characters, those with whom we grew up.
Luckily, in recent times, we have seen some new versions that are quite up to par with the previous ones: "Rurouni Kenshin", "Trigun", "Dororo", further away in time "Hunter x Hunter" and "Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood".
In this last item appears the new version of "Ranma" that back in the late 80s and early 90s many people loved.
Animated by MAPPA, which is always a guarantee of quality and labor exploitation, we have an anime much more faithful to the manga than its predecessor.
Less focused on fanservice and gratuitously showing bodies, this adaptation focuses more on comedy and the relationship between Ranma and Akane with all their adventures and misadventures.
The usual supporting characters like Ryoga and Shampoo, plus new ones that didn't appear previously.
A catchy opening and a decent ending, with animation that is very up to par.
I think it ends up being a pleasant surprise this year and a good path to follow for other adaptations.
Recommended for lovers of light and fluid plots without the usual annoying love triangles.

Rumiko Takashi classic manga series that had one weird premise, turns anime by the end of 80's was one well beloved n enjoying with range of cast of characters trying to get to heart of Martial arts Akane n don't drop hot water Ranma.
From figurines, fighting game n two movies, Ranma define a genre of on, Netflix hire the heavy anime studio of MAPPA to make it, lot have change from the original but ye know this remake has heart here my review: As ye know the story as follows Ranma n he dad goe to some mystic spring to practice their martial arts just to receive the curses: Dad into panda n Ranma into sexy girl Going to japan to see a friend in the Tendo Dojo Where bi Héroes is arranged marriage with the small daughter of the Tendo Akane n that's where mischief take em, from facing the master swordman Kuno to win Akane heart, just ve feeling to fem Ranma, then arch rival of Ranma comes to vengeance just discovered turn into small black piggy, ice skating with some renounced power couple for Ryorga piggy form, finally a mortal fight with forme Amazon Chinese queen Shampoo that even fall in love to Ranma.
Got say this remake hasn't change what the original is meaning the tsundere relationship of Akane n Ranma is absolutely awesome, on how they begging having feelings then faking it, but what make it kawai is Akane feeling to her crush to Dr. Tohu n how found closure with Ranma.
The Crackaboom moment goes to Ryoga n Ranma those nun skulls don't stop fighting it was the most Jackie Chan fun of the series meaning the skating episode bro ye got watched it to get it.
MAPPA made dynamics change to the style turned it more pasty n pinkish that goes well even there some scenes changes going full pasty completely.
They did some changes cause there's some characters missing out like the panty robber Honnosai, Shampoo grandma Cologne which in original own a restaurant, n master chef Kuonji.
Wish Ryoga n Ranma were besties than rivals Definitely.
So conclude feeling nostalgic went I saw it mid 90's, Netflix brought it back with the same zaniness then original, there already announced a second season so there much to expect.

The og is one of my top 5 faves. This reboot is a terrible abomination. The comedy is weak and misses the mark. Half of the time the animation is a grade above the og but the other half it gets weird, either it morphs to look like a comic book page or this ornamental border appears and they use Japanese letters to describe sounds a lot... like a comic page. The music is a huge downgrade, no tracks were catchy or noteworthy. And the English voice acting was poor. Nibiki loses her classic sarcasm, Ranma loses his arrogance. And the hairstyles have too many right angles, kinda like it was too difficult to animate.

I'll give them credit for not changing the storyline so far but as someone who has the original anime on disc I don't appreciate the alterations in dialogue, the "tweaking" of the animation, and the new English dialogue voice actors don't feel right.
I could possibly understand if this were another attempt to transfer a beloved anime to live action a la Cowboy Bebop(not as dreadful as some fans claim) or One Piece. But so far it is nearly a cell for cell remake, with an art style about 80% the same as the original with unnecessarily added flourishes. Photo frames, text overlays, and dramatically simplified and saturated scenes just make it feel overdone, like the animatorsand directors are trying too hard.
I don't want to blame the new English VAs too much as I realize the direction has as much to do with performances as individual actor talent. But combined with the alterations in dialogue the characters have lost much of their classic appeal. Ranma doesn't feel arrogant and sullen, Akane's lost much of her sweet but hard disposition, Kasumi doesn't feel as innocent, and Nabiki feels almost entirely new. It's amazing sometimes how much difference dialogue delivery makes.
My advice, seek out the original anime series and watch that. So far the new series doesn't feel as if it will do the stories justice.
