Phil Wurtzel wrote the script for A HAUNTING IN CAWDOR while in production on the documentary on the actual Barn Theatre in Augusta, Michigan where the movie was filmed. The documentary follows the reopening of The Barn Theatre which is the oldest summer stock theatre in the United States.
Shelby Young was hired for the lead role of Vivian Miller less than 24 hours before the film started production. She arrived in Michigan for her first day of filming with just a few hours to prepare before she had to appear on camera. Shelby was on set and in front of the cameras every day of this production.
The character of Frank Seals, played by Scott T. Whitesell, was originally only supposed to be in the opening scene. But Cary Elwes and Scott got along so well that Cary made the suggestion that Frank be added to several more scenes.
The lead actors stayed at Fire Keepers Casino & Hotel during their time in Battle Creek, Michigan.
