Dresden Detectives

Two female detectives clash with their conservative boss, creating conflict but making them more determined than ever to pursue the truth and solve their cases, from online dating apps and the live murder of a social media influencer to a public witch hunt for pedophiles.

A very good German MTV thriller,probably the pilot of a new series ; of course the hostage-taking (and internet communication) has been often used; but Martin Brambach (who starred in such works as "goodbye Lenin" and " das Leben der Anderen " ) is extremely convincing in the part of a hostage who tries to relate to his abductor,as the time is running out (only 24 hours to live); there are clichés (the gay father) and the female cop looks towards Jodie Foster's "the silence of the lambs" but suspense is sustained till the very end ; the social issue (children who disappeared never to be found ;the man who bears the police a grudge for not solving these cases) is relevant ,and not only in Germany. If this is a pilot,it bodes well for the series .
