- TriviaLewis Lovhaug claims he was inspired to do this series by James Rolfe's annual October series Cinemassacre's Monster Madness (2007), as both shows follow a similar format of reviewing a horror related piece of media every day in the month of October leading up to Halloween.

I personally consider this to be an improvement over and a much more consistently fun and entertaining internet comic book review show than Atop The Fourth Wall which is alright but I find that it's much more aimed at hardcore comic book fans..and this show on the other hand, as a horror fan I find to be a lot generally accessible to my tastes because it primarily focuses on horror comic one-offs, series and graphic novels, and I actually quite enjoy Lovehaug's antics as "Moarte", a cackling over the top ghoulish character that is clearly an affectionate homage to the great TV horror hosts like the Cryptkeeper and very likely the ghoulish hosts of the old classic E.C horror comics. I find the subjects of the reviews more interesting, as well as his review style, he generally waxes on about the story of the comic in question in a Super-eccentric Transylvanian-ish macabre way while giving his own observations and opinion at the same time, and I like the way he does it, it's theatrical yet informative and interesting. The episodes are a lot shorter than Atop the Fourth Wall to, which helps a lot, not that I suffer from a short attention span! Anywho I just find the maniacal slant suits the guy more, and something about this series that I've loved is that I've gotten into and purchased some real comic book gems that I would've never possibly known about otherwise, the masterpiece that is Scott Snyder's Severed to name the best one by far, I'd recommend you check that out if you'd like to read a graphic novel with the feel of a really great Stephen King book. It feels very similar in my opinion to the excellent Cinemassacre's Monster Madness, a show which has sadly concluded its run, the difference of course is that this show is about comics and that one was about movies, but still like that series was, to me it's a show that feels very steeped in the Halloween spirit and is done with a passion for the season, and I look forward to watching it every year. So it's a great little series to watch if you're into horror or comic books or even if you're not, it has something to pique about anyone's interest, and it certainly broadened my macabre comic book horizons, so thank you kindly sir Moarte, back into the crypt with you!
