As I feared, after a certain point, My Happy Ending became quite the bore and stretched a bit too thin to have any kind of real impact. The show follows the story of Jae-Won, a woman who suffers from bipolar disorder, and the many hurdles she had to cross to keep her pristine life as impeccable as possible. For the most part, the message of the show is that your mental health “issue” isn’t your entire personality, and neither is it a burden for those around you. It offers an alternative: to accept who you are and actually express it to your peers, because hiding things only makes it worse for you. It’s not something to hide either; it’s simply something that is present in one’s life. Episodes 15 and 16 are quite difficult to get through, in all honesty. I found myself quite distracted and wanting to...

At the end of episode 13 of My Happy Ending, Yoon-Jin decides to drop a big bomb on Jae-Won and has Reporter Choi release some hidden information. Now we know what that was all about. Additionally, Seung-Gyu was finally killed off at the end of episode 13, and it seems the body count is going up for the Kwons. Jae-Won may be spiraling further since things aren’t really going her way just yet. I suppose we’ll just have to wait till the end of the show for her actual happy ending. On the other hand, Te-o seems to be overprotective of the woman, and she is absolutely unbothered. Simply from the expressions of the two of them, you can tell how much she does not care that he cares, which is kind of unfortunate, because at the moment she doesn’t really have anyone else on her side. Let’s...

My Happy Ending is a melodrama spanning 16 episodes. I suppose at this point it feels a little bit stretched out because there were a lot of things that were forgotten amidst the show’s messy plot. The two-week gap may have also had an impact on my perception of the show, but these latest episodes seem to be quite boring and honestly feel like they’re going in circles. I feel like this show could’ve easily been wrapped up in 12 episodes, leaving Jae-Won with an actual happy ending, but at this point, it almost seems impossible. Additionally, having this father-daughter duo as the antagonists also feels a bit uninspired, making the show more old-school than the modern picture it’s trying to paint while addressing mental health. Additionally, it’s also clear now that that side of things is only here as a plot device, and it’s just getting worse by the episode.

Firstly, it’s a shame that we have to wait 12 days for My Happy Ending Episode 13, but leaving that behind, Episode 12 is one big mess. Is it wise to introduce a new character so late in the show? The pacing seems off, and some of the twists just feel tacked on for no reason at this point. Episode 11 showed us that Jae-Won is finally ready to take control of her own life and has started putting the pieces together to catch the big bad wolf of her life. I suppose we assumed this was Yoon-Jin up until now, but there might be more hands at play here. Episode 11 ended with Jae-Won witnessing Sang-Beom getting rammed into by a car before she goes to the celebration party of Yoon-Jin’s appointment as CEO, where she congratulates her and promises to turn things around soon. Let’s quickly dive into what happens...

My Happy Ending is a complicated and frustrating TV show that keeps throwing more and more drama our way by the episode. I suppose that’s what you get when it’s a “makjang” drama, but I’m not sure it’s doing it to the same effect as say Penthouse, Sky Castle, or even The World of the Married. I don’t think My Happy Ending will be the dark horse of this genre of Korean dramas simply because it addresses mental health, and I don’t think it’s doing a very good job at that either. At first, it felt like the show was trying to make the viewer realize that having bipolar disorder won’t stop you from becoming a successful CEO with a perfect family and everything you could dream of; however, as the show progresses, this positive outlook changes to something more negative when...

In episode 9 of My Happy Ending, we get a massive new twist. Just as things seemed to be going alright for Jae-Won and her family, she got her memory back. But what’s worse, even if she had thought that she might get back with her husband, she’s hit with another curveball—his death. What’s more shocking is that she ends up getting arrested for his death after being knocked out cold the previous night. We already saw that he had a massive fight with Yoon-Jin, who was mad at him for taking Jae-Won’s side, and Tae-Joo also seems a little bit suspicious; however, there was no reason for Soon-Young to simply die like that out of the blue. Let’s quickly recap My Happy Ending episode 10 to see what’s been revealed and try to figure out who might’ve killed the man and why.

The K-drama My Happy Ending keeps swerving every time we feel like we’re reaching a certain conclusion. The show that stars Jang Na-Ra in the leading role of a CEO who has bipolar disorder seems to be somewhat confused with what its true implications are. We all know it’s currently a “trend” (for lack of a better word) in the Korean entertainment industry to represent mental illnesses. Up until now, most of the shows we’ve seen have done a decent job of this; however, some of them do come across as straight PSAs. I suppose it all started with how well-received “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” was. As much as I appreciate the intention, sometimes I’m left wondering if it’s really there or if it’s simply for the sake of ticking off the right boxes. My Happy Ending is a melodrama that goes...

My Happy Ending keeps hitting us with new surprises every week. Just as we were starting to see Jae-Won’s husband as the bad guy, we got hit by some new secrets that were very disarming. Episodes 7 and 8 are partially from Soon-Young’s point of view because the ball is now in his court. We get to see why he wants Jae-Won to suffer and what’s really going on with both of them. On the other hand, we also see Yoon-Jin’s side of things and why she’s been jealous of Jae-Won this whole time. Things are starting to change drastically, and there’s no way to tell what’s coming next in My Happy Ending. I, for one, can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next, but before that, let’s quickly recap episodes 7 and 8 of My Happy Ending.

The Korean drama My Happy Ending is anything but happy. The overdose of drama is definitely not doing my heart any good, and I’m glad I didn’t end up binge-watching this show. My Happy Ending does a fantastic job of setting the tone for a show about a woman being successful and how that affects the people around her in the most dramatic manner possible. It speaks to two of the big taboos in Korea: feminism and mental illness. Both of these have been huge themes in recent years as public opinions have become more open-minded. It is still awful to watch Jae-Won be treated like dirt when it is those around her who deserve that treatment more. Additionally, since we’re seeing the show from Jae-Won’s perspective, it’s a little difficult to separate reality from hallucination, considering her illness. With this mix of unreliable narrators and absolutely disgusting supporting characters,...

My Happy Ending is one of those K-dramas that’ll leave you bald by the end of the month. There’s only so much frustration one can handle. I suppose it’s especially agonizing when the protagonist is a woman who seemingly has it all—the perfect family, a company of her own, and an impeccable public image—and then it’s all just taken away from her because she’s simply existing? What kind of awful person would do that? Well, the makers of My Happy Ending for one, and I find myself almost as invested as I was with The World of the Married. When it comes to shows like this, there’s the added bonus of luxury fashion and expensive homes—an aspirational aesthetic that we all love to see. Anyway, let’s quickly get into Jae-Won’s story. In episode 2, we learn about Soon-Young’s twin brother.

My Happy Ending began with a dramatic first episode that showed us a troubled protagonist who almost died from drowning after being pushed into the Han River by an anonymous man. We are made to believe that this man could be Te-o, Jae-Won’s employee and right-hand man; however, episode 2 of My Happy Ending gives us some insight into the matter. Episode 1 showed us turmoil in Jae-Won’s life, not just because of one man but because of three. Her stepfather, who could’ve possibly killed her mother; her husband, who may be cheating with her best friend; and Te-o, the one who might have betrayed her for the company.

Heartfelt tales about women are always fun to watch. It is not that often that we get to watch female-centric films that were made with the right intention. They talk about their pain, drawbacks, and regrets as individuals, and it allows the viewers to comprehend the kind of burden most women live with till their last breath. My Happy Ending, directed by Sharon Maymon and Tal Granit, brings to you four women from different backgrounds with one goal in mind.

Exclusive: Roadside Attractions has acquired North American rights to The Last Rider, the story of cycling legend Greg LeMond, who came back from a near death experience to win his sport’s greatest race.
LeMond remains the only American man to win the Tour de France, a feat he accomplished three times – in 1986, 1989 and 1990 (Tour victories by Americans Lance Armstrong and Floyd Landis were vacated after they admitted using banned performance-enhancing drugs). Remarkably, LeMond’s second and third Tour de France wins came after he was nearly killed in a hunting accident, in which his brother-in-law accidentally blasted him with a shotgun, hitting LeMond with 60 pellets. He lost 65 percent of his blood, but somehow survived.
The documentary directed by Alex Holmes will be released in theaters on June 23.

Andie MacDowell has been in Hollywood for almost 40 years, but for the long-time star, it can still seem like “Groundhog Dog” when it comes to gender equity on set.
“I have worked with so many difficult men!,” the actress recently told Marie Claire. “I’m really good with difficult men. I have great training, because I grew up in the South.”
The “Sex, Lies, and Videotape” star noted that while she typically would let “things roll off,” the #MeToo movement has shifted on-set dynamics. “I was always really good at not letting it affect me,” MacDowell said. “Sometimes I watch bad behavior and feel sorry for the person who’s behaving poorly, because they have to be suffering on some level to behave like that.”
The “Maid” actress did recall a “kind of crazy experience” in 2016 where she hit a breaking point during a production. “[It was] right after Trump got elected.

In Olivia Rodrigo’s Disney Plus film “Driving Home 2 U,” the pop star takes a road trip from Salt Lake City, Utah to Malibu, Calif., stopping at old-timey diners, abandoned-looking gas stations and desert prairies along the way. At the premiere for the film on Thursday night in Westwood, Rodrigo’s star-studded friends, members of the press and fans got to mimic that journey.
While picking up tickets at will call, each guest was handed a “Drivers License” of their own in the spirit of Rodrigo’s hit song, and directed toward the Regency Village Theater by enthusiastic event employees dressed in pastel jumpsuits adorned with “Sour” patches. The celeb sightings began just outside of the theater, where Busy Philipps and her child Birdie mingled with “Glee’s” Kevin McHale. Once inside, the Kid Laroi and girlfriend Katarina Deme lounged in the lobby while guests grabbed complimentary popcorn and sodas.

Countries the UK will co-produce with include China, South Africa and Chile.
A further nine UK-international co-productions are set to receive a share of £1.32m from the £7m UK Global Screen Fund (Ukgsf), administered by the British Film Institute (BFI).
The £7m fund was launched in April by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (Dcms), initially as a one-year pilot initiative to boost international development and distribution opportunities for the UK’s independent screen sector following the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.
The BFI confirmed the scheme’s renewal at the end of November, with a further three years expected.
