The tale of “Jack Ryan” has come to an end. For now, at least.
With the launch of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” Season 4, John Krasinski’s time as an espionage hero is over, but he goes out with a bang in the six-episode final season. Krasinski and Co. shot the final season back-to-back with Season 3 of the globe-trotting series, knocking out the international shoot in one big go.
For his final adventure, Jack Ryan roots out corruption within the CIA, but as he starts digging he finds an even darker secret. His final mission puts him in contact with Michael Peña’s Ding Chavez and reunites him with familiar faces like Jim Greer (Wendell Pierce) and Mike November (Michael Kelly) – and one shocking return as well.
But in contrast to previous seasons that dropped all their episodes at once, “Jack Ryan” Season 4 is getting a weekly rollout – with a twist.

Disquiet is defined as “a feeling of anxiety or worry”, and it’s something one often feels when in a hospital even if they’re just visiting. So imagine what Sam is feeling when he wakes up in a hospital with nobody answering the call button. Even worse, the patient in the next bed tries to strangle him, then chases him into the hall where Sam stabs him repeatedly with a scalpel, only for the body to vanish.
When a nurse does arrive she vanishes as soon as he looks away. And then the psycho guy returns, even ripping open the roof of the elevator trying to get at Sam. After escaping once again he has flashbacks to the accident that put him in the hospital.

Ever since Crisis on Infinite Earths back in the 1980’s, I’ve always been a sucker for those big DC events featuring dozens of heroes and villains. Legends, Zero Hour, Convergence, Countdown, Infinite Crisis, and many others have come and gone before. Being honest, the story hasn’t always lived up to expectations with these events, but the novelty of throwing all these characters together usually makes up for that. I’m especially a sucker for using obscure or third banana level characters, or teaming up characters from different time periods. Hey, don’t judge me, I’m sure I’m not the only one.

It's official! Superboy will be part of the DC Legion of Super-Heroes reboot.
The return of DC's best super-team is going to feature even more of the best heroes when Legion of Super-Heroes: Millenium #1 hits in October. Also Superman and Lois's son from the present is being shot into the future to join the Legion after being aged to his teen years via time dilation.
"Jon Kent is joining the Legion" is probably a little more sexy than "Look at this dope Element Lad redesign" but that's the beauty of this Ryan Sook-drawn cover to issue 2 of Legion of Super-Heroes: Millenium. It's a great storytelling image that has so much going on in the background, I could stare at it for hours trying to pick out all the different parts of it. I once had a graveyard shift job painting some rooms in an old hospital that was going through serious renovations. There’s always the supervisor or facility manager who just has to toss in that common story involving warnings like “don’t go in room (such and such)” or "if you hear any rattling down the hall, that’s just the janitor that died in there back in 1960-something." “Sure thing, boss!” was my usual response, as they never had to worry about me drawing any floor pentagrams or performing any seances when no one was looking. Really I just wanted to earn my paycheck and get the hell out of there and get home to play Oblivion and ponder how work sucks for a lot of people in their 20s. This life experience of working in an empty hospital came rushing back when I felt the paranormal unease that...

Join us as we talk to writer/director Drew Hall about his latest genre-spanning film, the psychological thriller titled Convergence.
Convergence is the latest film from American filmmaker Drew Hall, whose previous credits include Sons of Liberty and The Phoenix Rises. This latest film, of which Drew was involved as both writer and director, is an intense supernatural thriller. The film focuses on a detective who fights to redeem his soul when he becomes trapped in a hospital that serves as a gateway between heaven and hell. Starring Clayne Crawford (Rectify) and Ethan Embry (Can’t Hardly Wait), check out the trailer below.
The trailer for Convergence definitely has a lot going on. It’s action-packed but also has this horror film vibe, even some religious imagery. Suffice to say, it doesn’t seem easily categorized. How would you best describe the film to the uninitiated? What can they expect?...

Dark Sky Films has brought us films as diverse and bold as The House Of The Devil, The Innkeepers, and Stake Land. Joining that esteemed company is the recently released (and now available on DVD, Blu-ray, and VOD) Convergence, in which a cop (Clayne Crawford, Swimfan, Jericho) finds himself trapped in limbo and must find redemption before he can escape. With support from veteran actors Ethan Embry (Vacancy, Once Upon A Time) and Mykelti Williamson (The Final Destination, Forrest Gump), the nightmarish action-horror film deals with weighty themes of religious fanaticism and atonement. We spoke with writer-director Drew Hall about his inspiration, beliefs, and symbolism.
Famous Monsters. Convergence is very timely since we’re in a period of religious extremism. Is that what prompted you to write the film?
Drew Hall. Yes. I grew up during a time period of very aggressive but non-violent anti-abortion protests. My family would take...

With February being a short month, genre fans only have a handful of horror and sci-fi arriving on VOD to look forward to over the next few weeks. One of my own most anticipated movies for 2016, the horror anthology Southbound, makes its VOD debut on February 9th, courtesy of The Orchard. For those of curious about two of the more buzzed-about remakes in some time – Martyrs and Cabin Fever – both films arrive on VOD on February 2nd and February 12th respectively.
Other notable titles hitting VOD this February include All Hallow’s Eve 2, Convergence, The Veil, Uncaged and Riddle Room.
All Hallows' Eve 2 (Rlj Entertainment) – February 2nd
Alone on Halloween, a young woman finds a mysterious VHS tape on her doorstep—a tape that shows a series of gruesome and ghastly tales that appear to be all too real. But these terrifying glimpses of damned souls are not the only horrors that stalk her.

Tagline: "Where the Path to Heaven Meets the Road to Hell." *full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Dark Sky Films. **spoilers: it is recommended that you see this film before reading this review. Director/writer: Drew Hall. Cast: Clayne Crawford, Ethan Embry, Mykelti Williamson, Gary Grubbs and Chelsea Bruland. Convergence is a supernatural thriller and horror title from director Drew Hall. The film takes place in a couple of spheres, thanks partially to Dante's Purgatorio. The removal of sins has been replaced by the protagonist's search for the truth. Act III makes this readily apparent as Ben (Clayne Crawford) comes to terms with his murderer. While trying to avoid spoilers, this review will also look as some of the films indie influences and positive film elements. Update: The Aether proof of concept film, ‘Aether: The Rise of Specter’, has been released! It clocks in at approximately 8 minutes and provides a quick walk-through of an elaborate world and a glimpse at the people who live in it. It stirs up feelings of Firefly for me, which is a very good thing. Don’t take my word for it. Check out the film below!
We absolutely love supporting independent filmmakers, short films, and unique storytelling. So when I learned about Aether: Prologue we just had to learn more. You may remember our preview of the full length feature Convergence done earlier this year (check it out if you missed it). Well the fine folks at Frame 29 Films, responsible for Convergence, are also responsible for Aether: Prologue.
The genre of steam punk has really been gaining popularity in recent years, and Aether: Prologue seeks to elevate the concept with a fantastic original story.

Happy New Year Citizens! 2015 is freshly upon us with tons of fantastic films to look forward to watching! Part of the fun isn’t just the big blockbusters, and of that there are plenty. I really take a lot of enjoyment in new and unique independent films. Convergence fits the mold perfectly as it is blends elements of mystery and horror to create a thriller worthy of attention.
Written and directed by Drew Hall, Convergence follows Detective Ben Walls and the mystery that ensues after an accident lands him in a local hospital. With numerous twists and turns, Convergence will keep you on the edge of your seat. I will avoid speaking too much about the plot to avoid potential spoilers – but rather focus on some of the other elements of the film.
