Yet another jittering cam footage movie. It's so rough that I wanted to heave. Other than that, it's also a bad movie. Pass if you want a headache or be nauseated...
Granted, when I sat down to watch the 2021 horror movie "C. A. M.", I did so without ever having heard anything about the movie. I stumbled upon writer Steph Du Melo's movie by random luck in 2022, and the synopsis did sound interesting enough. Plus, I do believe in giving a movie a fair chance.
Talk about a swing and a miss. It is hard to describe this movie, because it is not really a proper movie. It is mostly random interviews done and someone listening to audio interviews. This 2021 movie never had a snowballs chance in Hell of providing me with proper entertainment.
Sure, I was a bit hesitant about the movie, given its 3.7 rating on IMDb (while I am reviewing it), but I thought that the movie should be given the benefit of the doubt. But I should have listened to that gnawing voice at the back of my head.
The is but a mere hint of a storyline to be seen throughout this ordeal, and that leaves precious little for entertainment to be built upon.
As for the acting performances in "C. A. M."? Well, let's just say they tried.
This movie just simply was a waste of my time and effort. And this is definitely not something I would recommend you to go out to get to watch.
My rating of "C. A. M.", from directors Steph Du Melo and Larry Downing, lands on a one out of ten stars.

A masterful film,by Steve Du Melo, with a well chosen plot, great scenery, and photo-realistic special effects! This movie presents a wide experience in the horror genre, with uncanny accuracy and fine detail, and attempts to explain the situations that this world is encountering today.and warns us what the human race could expect not just in the distant future, but the adjacent future. It tells us,'This could happen tomorrow' and could be happening today. So buckle up and get ready for a rough ride,as each scene tears into your subconscious night, and turns your belief system on it's head,as you battle with this new found sense of suspense and gore, screaming through your mind.
Is it terrible? Yes
Is it a complete waste of time? Yes
But I actually wanted to waste an afternoon. Story is bog standard zombies. Acting is bog standard low budget.
Would I recommend? Well yes, if you have time on your hands and really don't mind wasting it.

CAM is an interesting film and I've got to say probably the best found footage film I've seen in this type of budget and genre. I'm not much of a fan of most found footage, but this film has played it a little different from what I can see. Some might say it's a zombie movie, if it is, it's more in the vein of 28 days later, because no one dies and comes back to life. Some found footage films have a little too much camera shake, but CAM seems to have made just the right amount and very clever use of camera moves which look fairly random but wouldn't be. Little touches like that I find interesting, at one moment the camera is pointing backwards to capture the chase, but even this seems very natural. The begin of the film moves from drone footage to some high quality well filmed interiors, then Segues into found footage material that the directors want us to believe was made by amateur filmmakers. A few jump moments but if you're watching on a phone or laptop you'll probably be unaware. When I first watched the Blair Witch and everyone thought it was real, I was saying where did they keep all those camera batteries, this film even has a battery change in it. Even the titles have all the actors and crew in, but they have make it look as if they just helped get the film to the public in some way. I think that's the thing, it has all these problems, but in the end the film makers have made it look very real. The actors rant and rage their way through it, I quiet liked Carl, the comedian of the group, the know it all cameraman. There is also a nice weird electronic score. This film has a copyright date of 2013 so the narrative in this movie is amazingly strangely prophetic and without giving away any spoilers we can only just hope it's not totally prophetic with its a apocalyptic story line. Well watch it and cross your fingers that It doesn't all come true.

Probably the strangest most bizarre found footage film out there currently. I'm not sure if I love it or hate it. It certainly is a film that will get the viewer thinking. Probably not in a good way but it's definitely a film that needs to be seen. It's a bit long winded and unlike any other found footage film I've seen. There are some scary moments and I did jump out of my skin a couple of times. The camera movements are a bit all over the place at times but I guess it makes it more believable. That's if you can believe this film at all. It's a very controversial film about population control that did actually get me thinking.
