So far in 2024, Netflix movies have been off to a thrilling start with hit titles such as Damsel, Atlas, A Family Affair, and The Union. But the year isn't over yet! To finish out an excellent year of movies, Netflix announced its full slate of fall movies on Aug. 28, and we can look forward to even more hot titles of every genre, from horror to holiday, featuring some of the biggest stars.

Among the biggest and most-anticipated titles on the horizon include Joey King's dystopian sci-fi flick Uglies, which also stars Outer Banks favorite Chase Stokes; horror movies like It's What's Inside, Don't Move, and Time Cut; Anna Kendrick's directorial debut Woman of the Hour; and a full slate of Christmas rom-coms starring Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert, and Christina Milian.

“Road House” was the most-watched streaming original title for the week of March 22-28, per Luminate. Based on the 1989 Patrick Swayze flick of the same, the Amazon Prime Video project was watched for 1.7 billion minutes during this viewing window.

The week before, “Road House” debuted at No. 5 on the movies chart with 121.5 million minutes watched, despite only having been available for one day. Evidently, the Jake Gyllenhaal remake picked up steam throughout its first week of availability, with an increased daily average of nearly 250 million minutes watched.

Divided by its 121-minute runtime, this week’s 1.7 billion viewing minutes of “Road House” translate to an estimated 13.9 million total views.

“Shirley,” the Netflix biopic about the pioneering politician Shirley Chisholm, debuted as the No. 2 movie with 298.7 million minutes watched. In total views, however, it was still beat by last week’s winning movie: “Irish Wish,” which clocked in at No. 3 from March...

At their best, films aimed at young kids can be enjoyed by adults as well and truly earn the "family movie" title. 2023 brought plenty of titles that fit the bill, from box office hits like "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" and "Migration" to streaming treats like "Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget" and "Leo."

Now it's 2024's turn to show us what it's got, and while the early months of the year tend to be pretty dry when it comes to family movies, as studios are holding them back for school vacations and long summer days, there are some fresh, funny, and heartwarming new releases on offer. From a new "Peanuts" special to a fantasy movie filled with dragon-related perils to the latest high-flying antics of "Kung Fu Panda," here are the best family movies of 2024 so far.

David Benioff, D. B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo’s sci-fi epic “3 Body Problem” debuted at No. 2 on Netflix’s English-language TV in its launch week. The drama came in behind Guy Ritchie’s “The Gentlemen” which has reached its third week at No. 1 on the list.

From March 18-24, “The Gentlemen” had 11.7 million views, just edging out “3 Body Problem,” with 11 million views over its first four days of availability.

Third place went to list newcomer “Homicide: New York” (6.6 million views), fourth to “Avatar: The Last Airbender” (3.4 million), which was in Week 5 on the Top 10, fifth to “Hot Wheels Let’s Race” (2.4 million), sixth to the first season of “Monk” (2 million), seventh was a tie between “Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War,” The Program: Cons, Cults and Kidnapping,” “Fool Me Once,” and “One Day,” all with 1.3 million views.

Miguel Puga has come back with The Casagrandes Movie in the form of an animated film, which is currently streaming on Netflix. The plot revolves around Ronnie Anne and her family going to enjoy their holiday at their huge estate during her summer vacation, where Ronnie Anne meets new challenges. Will Ronnie and her family be able to solve the mystery of the demi-god, Punguari? Will Punguari be able to save both her parents from Ucumu? How will Ronnie’s family help her and Punguari on their mission to cast Ucumu back into the underworld? Let’s find out!

The two big original releases on Netflix this month are Spaceman and 3 Body Problem. In Spaceman, Adam Sandler plays an astronaut alone and far from home who desperately wants to fix things with his wife. When he discovers an enormous alien spider in the bowels of his ship, a conversation between the two gets underway, and Sandler has a chance to make some big changes. To be clear: this is not a comedy!

Meanwhile, new sci-fi series 3 Body Problem hails from Game of Thrones co-creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. Along with True Blood writer Alexander Woo, they’ve spun a tale that is set to blow your mind this March. Your mileage may vary, but it certainly looks interesting! And hey, we all love the show’s star, Benedict Wong.

Here, in all its glory, is Netflix’s long list of movies premiering on the streamer in 2024, and there’s quite a few gems. While Netflix tries to program an event film each quarter, there’s clearly more star-studded pics than that as that’s what gets subscribers to click.
