I usually enjoy trivia type gameshows, but I find the host, Jay Pharough, very annoying! I think he's trying to use over-the-top theatrics to come up with different/new ways to say "release the balls!", but it's just not working. Also, I keep wishing he would change what he is wearing. He's worn the same bright red jacket and blue pants on all 3 of the shows that I've watched so far. Some of the families are a bit much too, with the "smack talk" given back and forth. I do find watching people get bumped into the water is mildly entertaining for me, though. :). I would give it a higher rating than 6, if it wasn't for the annoying host.

Two teams of five face off in a multiple-choice quiz show that lasts five rounds. In each round there are six answer choices, but the number of correct answers decreases by round. If you choose a wrong answer, you are unceremoniously clobbered by a large inflated ball that knocks you into a dunk tank. The team that accumulates the most money and survives the five rounds gets the opportunity to compete for a $100,000 prize.
I found the questions to be legit. Not everyone will know all the correct answers to a question. And the difficulty of the questions vary. Teams can walk away with significant cash, but the final question may be a high hurdle for most contestants.
Host Jay Pharoah contributes some energy, but his role is mostly explanatory. Those who enjoy watching others get clobbered, and there are plenty of those people, may find this a hoot.

What's not to like? FAMILY FEUD (two teams of five family members face off against each other) meets WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE? (pretty tough multiple choice questions) meets WIPEOUT (large inflated rubberized objects knock losing contestants into a swimming pool). The more members a family loses, the tougher the multiple choices get, but if you can keep from losing any, the level of difficulty stays the same for the next round.
From reading other reviewers, apparently one or another of the three facets of the show can put some viewers off, but to me they compliment each other. There are other quiz shows where the host deliberately delays revealing the correct answers to pad out the length of the show which other reviewers here complain about the host of this show, but while that's usually a deal-breaker for me, this host isn't as guilty of it as others. I definitely look forward to the show and find the questions challenging.

"The Quiz with Balls" has a lot of the same feel as Ellen's "Game of games", except it's a version of that game where they only play a single game type.
That concept just doesn't work. By round 3 of this game I lost all interest in it. Watching regular people answer trivia questions and then getting shoved into a giant dunk tank over, and over, and over again is just not compelling in any way. It's also not nearly as "hilarious" as this game wants us to think it is.
Jay Pharoah is a passable host but the show doesn't really give him any chance to be funny. They hire standup comedians to host these things so they can show off their improv skills but everything about Jay's delivery had a very scripted feel to it. He also didn't really seem to want to be there.
I'm calling it now, cancelled in one season.

Finally!
I am a game show critique and I have analyzed many game shows over the years, and this one has to be the best!
All of these other game shows have been so tacky and lame, lacking character, but this one has me on the edge of my seat! The balls hitting the contestants was an amazing idea and keeping it fun for the whole family.
The questions and categories are always making me think yeah I got this when it's names I have never even heard of. I love it!
This show needs to be on for another decade. The host is hilarious and I am so entertained.
Jay Pharoah is awesome!
Thank you Fox.

They straight up screwed a team.
Episode 2 a team chose a category where they have to identify words that were originally acronyms.
They chose words like SCUBA, RADAR, and CAPTCHA. Two words. SPAM and Pog were also chosen. They got credit for choosing Pog and the judges said SPAM is not an acronym. SPAM as in the pork product. IS an acronym but spam as in an email term is not. Pog as in a military term is an acronym but Pog as in the game is not. The rules are unclear and it's just not a good show .
It's filled w mispronounced words and the families on the show are not relatable and just annoying.

For the review saying a family was screwed in episode 2, you are very wrong. You should have done your research before showing your ignorance. Spam, the pork product, is a portmanteau of the words "spiced ham". You'll need to look that up, I'm sure. In case you don't, a portmanteau is the blending of words and sounds and meanings, like "brunch" for breakfast. Spam as in the unwanted email one might receive is also, not an acronym, as you already stated. This is a perfect example of someone thinking they are smarter than then giving a show a poor rating due to their own lack of knowledge. And if you think the rules of this game show are confusing, don't watch jeopardy.
1. Some of the questions are impossible to know all of the answers. While the variety of categories offered is great, specific questions are often too hard to answer. For example, tonight, I am watching and the subject was Sports. The question was "which of these pitchers had a no-hitter", then 6 potential answers that have no opportunity for strategy or knowledge unless someone is extremely obsessed with baseball. This was the final out for me. I like trivia but this is ridiculous. Maybe I'm too dumb...
2. The host is annoying
3. Too slow. Talking too much, repeating info and frequent commercials.
This game show was probably a good idea on paper but poor execution.
Sorry, not a fan.

I love swimming, looks so much fun, questions challenging. Every time someone get dumbed, I want to jump in there, too. There is nothing that annoys me in this show so far. It's fun and easy to watch and easy to be distracted from as well. Missing a minute or two will not take anything essential away in my opinion. But this is just a first haphazardly watched episode. Maybe I'll change my tune about this show, and if I do hopefully will remember to edit this. Sorry this being too long but I still have to find 84 characters to be accepted here.
How about changing is so when they get it right, then we get dumped in the pool?
