In this "Garden Story", we speak about a gentle reminder that...... amid any uncertainty going on in the world right now, there is one CONSTANT that KEEPS GOING, no matter what... NATURE. Whenever there's a Full Moon, it affects the tides in the Oceans and all living things: (i.e.) plants, insects, and scientists say, even US. SO... with the energetic PULL of the past Full Moon, life-affirming changes have occurred in Heidi's Garden. So, a past 'Guest' stayed in Heidi's Garden: "MRS. MANTIS" (from last July-Oct.), and she took care of the de-bugging of every single plant. Well, she left us as her "guardians" for and in the care of her sac of her future babies. Well, the Full MOON on May 5th brought them forth, and they are the cutest things!... and they're now safe and sound in several of our plants.. &.. we're looking forward to taking care of them and continuing "Mrs. Mantis's Legacy!"

For the month of June, READ TO ME, HEIDI celebrated Pride Month by first interviewing our highlighted author, S. Bear Bergman, whose publishing co., Flamingo Rampant, tells stories with a mission: to produce feminist, racially-diverse, LGBTQ-positive children's books. Finally, "Read To Me, Heidi" 's 1st of 2 books that are published by Flamingo Rampant: "Is That For A Boy Or A Girl?", speaks about how sometimes people don't think clearly about gender, and this story explains it all, so everyone can understand. In this "Garden Story", we speak about... how there hasn't been a Hurricane (or later it turned into just a "Tropical Storm") since 1939 in Los Angeles, so we felt it was worthy of filling everyone in on what "Read To Me, Heidi" should do to protect the Mantisses in Heidi's Garden. Since the news said the wind was going to be very STRONG, "Read To Me, Heidi" decided to collect the 3 mid-size mantises that had been pretty regularly showing themselves in the Garden, and put them separately in glass jars, to protect them from the effects of a very heavy rain, or "Tropical Storm".

Millicent is learning firsthand about some of our plants and how to prune them. "Read To Me, Heidi" prunes the garden along with the seasons, and it's now changing into the Fall season, which gives the plants time to re-group by pruning them back just a tad. This gives the plants a chance to eventually fill out a little more, and get ready for somewhat cooler weather.

A few months ago, we celebrated Pride Month by interviewing our highlighted author, S. Bear Bergman, whose publishing co., Flamingo Rampant, tells stories with a mission: to produce feminist, racially-diverse, LGBTQ-positive children's books. This story is from the point of view of the main character, Noodin, who identifies as 'they' instead of being gender specific, and they are also part of the Ojibwe tribe, so we learn about their language in this story as well... and Millicent also asks questions to help make sure everyone learns finally about this very important topic re: gender, and also about Noodin's family.!.
