A couple of new genre movies are headed to Netflix in April, including M. Night Shyamalan’s Split and sequel Glass, but this coming month is sadly more about what’s *leaving* Netflix.
The horror films leaving Netflix in April 2024 include Day of the Dead: Bloodline, which will be leaving the streaming service on April 4. This one’s no huge loss for most fans, as the 2018 horror movie was another lackluster attempt to reanimate George Romero’s horror classic.
Deliver Us from Evil (2014) is leaving Netflix on April 11, director Scott Derrickson’s supernatural horror movie starring Eric Bana. The film was inspired by the real life experiences of retired NYPD sergeant Ralph Sarchie, particularly based on his book Beware the Night.
Both The Meg (2018) and Train to Busan (2016) are leaving Netflix on April 22, one a killer shark blockbuster and the other a critically acclaimed South Korean zombie masterpiece.

Cobweb begins a week before Halloween when Peter is woken up by the sound of knocking seemingly coming from inside his bedroom wall. You can’t blame him for being creeped out, with its peeling paint and backyard full of rotting pumpkins the house already looks like something out of a horror movie. And then there’s that weird bulging thing the walls in his room do while he’s sleeping.
We also quickly learn that he has no friends and gets bullied at school. His parents Carol and Mark also won’t let him dress up for Halloween, something that may be related to the disappearance of a young girl a few years ago. Unsurprisingly they also don’t believe him about the knocking.

The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Sophie Skelton of Outlander will be leading the cast of the UK murder mystery thriller Row, which is currently in pre-production and will begin filming in Scotland next month. Joining Skelton in the cast are Bella Dayne (Troy: Fall of a City), Akshay Khanna, and Mark Strepan (Before We Die).
Row will mark the feature debut of director Matthew Losasso and writer Nick Skaugen – and Skaugen has an acting role in the film as well. The story centers on a woman who washes ashore on a blood-stained rowing boat. With all of her crew mates missing, presumed dead, she must try and piece together fractured memories of the ordeal to prove her innocence.
Skaugen is producing the film with line producer Matt Schichter. Losasso provided the following statement: “An immense ocean appears to stretch infinitely in all directions and yet on board the Valiant,...

Almost two years have gone by since we’ve heard anything about writer/director Lindsey Beer’s Pet Sematary prequel, which was made specifically for the Paramount+ streaming service. Now, Deadline has finally shared an update about the project, and it’s a very positive one: the film has been given the title Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, and it’s been given a release date! It will start streaming on Paramount+ on October 6th… so a lot of horror fans are going to be watching this one as part of their Halloween season celebrations.
Said to be “based on an untold chapter penned by Stephen King“, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines centers on a young Jud Crandall in 1969, who has dreams of leaving his hometown behind but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within and is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever keep him connected to the town. Tagline: "Join the Undying War." Day of the Dead: Bloodline is a partial remake of George A. Romero's Day of the Dead (1985). The film was developed by director Hèctor Hernández Vicens (The Corpse of Anna Fritz). The film stars Johnathon Schaech (Prom Night, 2008) and Sophie Skelton ("Outlander"). In this latest zombie film, survivors are scrambling to stay alive five years after an epidemic. Several military personnel live underground, while a biologist searches for a cure to the virus. In early February, Day of the Dead: Bloodline will be available on both DVD and Blu-ray formats. A look ahead to the film's home entertainment release is available now. A few early reviews have come in for the film. Michael Gingold, of Rue Morgue, hopes there will be no more re-imaginings, after watching this title: "let this be the last reimagining of the Dead series." Day of the Dead: Bloodline has few fans at Rue Morgue.

As is the case with any genre or subgenre, the key to allowing it to live on is to examine it from different perspectives and hopefully break some new ground. For the past fifteen years or so, zombies – and, to a lesser extent, vampires that sparkle – have been all the rage. But after digesting them in countless movies, video games and TV shows, even this longtime Resident Evil fan has admittedly experienced fatigue.
Of course, none of this would’ve been possible if George Romero didn’t pave the way back in 1968 with Night of the Living Dead. In the time since, he’d concocted several beloved sequels, each of which infused social commentary with unimaginable horror. That being said, it’s no wonder why the late director is still able to make new fans to this day.

Remember how in 2008 we all thought a Day Of The Dead remake co-starring Nick Cannon was the lowest low? Well, sorry 2016 us – it’s only gotten worse. Hèctor Hernández Vicens’ Day Of The Dead: Bloodline is – against all odds – an even more ill-advised rehashing than Steve Miner’s. How? Hold on, let me unravel the mile-long scroll of notes I scribbled…ah. How about digitally abhorrent CGI scars and blood splatters? Horrendous Adr that starts the film with mismatched voices to mouths? Angled camera shots of half-empty rooms – like, who watched 1985’s Day Of The Dead and decided it needed more rape? If you’re going to remake history, there better be a good reason – case and point.

A twisted, cold-hearted monster features in this newly-released clip for Day of the Dead: Bloodline – and we’re not referring to the undead.
In fact, it’s a reanimated zombie that winds up saving the day, as Sophie Skelton’s heroine comes face-to-face with a sexual harasser (John Schaech) named Max. What follows is an unnerving exchange between Skelton and Schaech’s respective survivors, before the latter makes an unwanted advance.
Whether intentional or not, this Bloodline clip, one which arrives on the eve or release, appears to be ripped straight from the headlines, with the only difference being that a flesh-munching zombie arrives just in time to thwart an attempted rape. Because who said the undead always have to be portrayed as the bad guys?
Story-wise, Day of the Dead: Bloodline takes place in a “post-apocalyptic, zombie-filled world where a former med school student is tormented by a dark figure from her past.

Over thirty years ago, George A. Romero introduced us to the lovable zombie Bub, the surly Captain Rhodes, and contagious cabin fever in Day of the Dead.

We were surprised how much fun director Hèctor Hernández Vicens’ remake of the late George Romero’s Day of the Dead, titled Day of the Dead: Bloodline, looked when the trailer hit earlier this month, and today brings another sneak peek via a clip from EW. In it we meet Johnathon Schaech’s Max, who is clearly a new take on […]...

"His brain is still working. They're learning." Saban Films has released the official red band trailer for a new zombie movie called Day of the Dead: Bloodline. This is basically a remake of the classic original George A. Romero zombie movie Day of the Dead, released in 1985, though it's being called a "reimagining." The plot is about a group of military personnel and survivalists living in an underground bunker trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. The main character is a young woman named Zoe Parker, played by Sophie Skelton, who is "tormented by a dark figure from her past" - surprise, that figure is now a zombie. The cast includes Johnathon Schaech, Jeff Gum, Marcus Vanco, Mark Rhino Smith, Lillian Blankenship, and Shari Watson. This doesn't look that good at all, but if you need more zombies in your life, have at it. Here's the trailer (+ poster) for Hèctor Hernández Vicens...

Thanks to Bloody Disgusting, we now have a brand new, retro-styled poster for Hèctor Hernández Vicens’ Day of the Dead: Bloodline. As you can see in the gallery down below, it shows off Johnathon Schaech’s character Max, a half human and half zombie inspired by Bub from the 1985 original, and also uses the font from that film, too, giving it a rather old school vibe.
It’s a slick piece of art, all things considered, which only makes it all the more unfortunate that this seems to be yet another pointless remake. Perhaps if it was made with a reason, like bringing George A. Romero’s original script to life, which was cut for budgetary reasons in the 80s, I could understand the need for this project to exist. But that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Instead, this is the third or so interpretation of the 1985 classic,...

Day of the Dead: Bloodline, director Hèctor Hernández Vicens’ remake of George A. Romero’s 1985 classic Day of the Dead, is quickly approaching and the marketing machine is now starting to kick into gear.
Yesterday, we got to see some awesome new images from the film and today, IGN has the full trailer to show off (check it out down below). It introduces Max, the movie’s version of Bub who’s supposed to be part human and part zombie, while we’re also treated to plenty of gory violence. Which means hopefully we’ll be getting some neat new zombie effects, even if they’re not the work of Tom Savini.
It’s still a bit too early to make the call on how this one will turn out,...

Thanks to Bloody-Disgusting, we now have three brand new images from the upcoming remake of George A. Romero’s Day of the Dead, entitled Day of the Dead: Bloodline, which is set in a post-apocalyptic, zombie-filled world where a former med school student is tormented by a dark figure from her past. The only thing is, he’s a half-human, half-zombie hell-bent on destroying her world.
As you can see in the gallery below, one of the new images shows a rotten, stitched-up corpse rising up from an autopsy table, while we also have a look at a zombie with a very gaunt, skull-like appearance, and two human characters. Nothing here is terribly revealing, but it’s still nice to get another glimpse of the pic as many are curious to see how it’ll stack up to the film it’s remaking.

Earlier today, Saban Films gave us our first look at their Day of the Dead remake, which is going by the title Day Of The Dead: Bloodline.
Up above, you’ll be able to catch a glimpse at one of the zombies set to appear in the flick along with the official poster. Neither give us very much to go on, unfortunately, but it’s nice that the studio is finally peeling back the lid on the pic as we’ve been waiting to see something from it for a while now.
Equipped with the tagline “Every day has its end,” the one-sheet teases that Bloodline will be a “bold reimagining of the George A. Romero classic.” Whether it’ll be more positively received than 2008’s remake remains to be seen,...

Featuring arguably the most beloved zombie ever put to film, George A. Romero's Day of the Dead is a seminal standout in the horror genre that has grown a diehard fanbase in the thirty-plus years since its release. New takes on Romero's groundbreaking 1985 film were featured in 2005's Day of the Dead 2: Contagium and 2008's Day of the Dead, and now Saban Films has announced a January release date for the latest Day of the Dead reimagining.
After acquiring the Us rights to Millennium Media's Day of the Dead remake, now titled Day of the Dead: Bloodline, back in September, Saban Films has announced a January 5th theatrical, VOD, and Digital HD release date for the film.
