Dogstar, the Nineties alt-rock outfit that featured Keanu Reeves on bass, played their first concert in 20 years Saturday as the reunited trio performed at Napa Valley’s BottleRock Festival.
The 12-song performance boasted a mix of tracks from Dogstar’s lone two albums — 1996’s Our Little Visionary and 2000’s Happy Ending — as well as songs from the band’s in-the-works third LP, including “Glimmer,” “Flowers” and “Breach.”

Keanu Reeves’ ’90s band Dogstar made their live comeback this weekend at BottleRock Festival in Napa Valley, California.
The band played material from their two previous studio albums, 1996’s Our Little Visionary and 2000’s Happy Ending, along with new songs from their upcoming, as-yet-unannounced album.
Comprised of bassist Reeves, drummer Robert Mailhouse, and singer-guitarist Brett Domrose, Dogstar released two albums and an EP from 1996 to 2002 before breaking up. The band teased a comeback earlier this month, announcing that both new music and live shows were on the way.
In a pre-show interview with Billboard, Reeves described Dogstar as “something that’s part of my life.” Discussing the impetus to reunite the band, he explained, “I missed playing together, I missed writing together, I missed doing shows together. It’s something I’ve always missed. We came to a spot where we weren’t playing anymore, and I missed it … Once we started to play,...

Back in the mid-1990s to the early 2000s, Keanu Reeves co-founded and played bass in a grunge band called Dogstar. After quietly reuniting last summer, the group has announced they will be “rolling out some new music” this summer, to be followed by some live shows.
Last week, they shared a preview of a rooftop photoshoot on Instagram, and apparently, the reception was so strong that Dogstar couldn’t wait to share more news. “Thank you everyone for the kind comments. We are overjoyed to see such a response!” they wrote in the comments of the post. “Honestly, didn’t expect this. It makes us want to play out even more.”
Dogstar continued, “We will be rolling out some new music this summer, followed by some gigs. As soon as it’s all figured out we will let everyone know immediately. So much to do, but rest assured, we...

Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia are reaching the end of their journey. At the end of Monday’s episode of “The Bachelorette”, fans got a peek at the remainder of the season, and it’ll be tumultuous, to say the least.
“I’m having a lot of anxiety this week,” Rachel admits, before telling Zach “I do have those fears, leaving here alone.”
Something clearly goes down with the pilot and the tech executive, as a tearful Zach tells host Jesse Palmer, “After Fantasy Suite, everything took a 180. I felt blindsided. That was the last thing I could’ve ever expected.”
Meanwhile, Erich, who upset Gabby by expressing his worry about her other Fantasy Suite dates, admits, “I don’t exactly know where we are. To feel this strongly about somebody and know you could lose that person, that’s a horrible feeling.”

The two hitch to Seattle, where Mike finds romance, Danny finds easy marks and both find problems prior to a “Happy Ending.” Keep an eye out for Kurt Russell as the child who wallops Mike in the shins.

Catherine O’Hara has somehow never won an Emmy for acting. That all could change this year thanks to the final season of Pop TV’s “Schitt’s Creek.” This year marks the second time in a row that the performer is nominated for her iconic turn as self-absorbed soap actress Moira Rose. In the hopes of finally nabbing an acting win, O’Hara has submitted the Season 6 episode “The Incident” for Emmy consideration.
In this episode, David (Dan Levy) wakes up horrified to discover he has wet the bed. He is especially embarrassed to have had such an accident next to his sleeping fiance, Patrick (Noah Reid). Meanwhile, Moira has been tasked with a social media takeover to build anticipation for her film “The Crows Have Eyes 3: The Crowening.” After Alexis (Annie Murphy) shows her the basics, Moira is thrilled to have a “digital soap box” from which to speak to fans.

There’s still plenty of time to make or update your own Emmy predictions before the virtual ceremony airs September 20, so jump in right now to get started.

“Schitt’s Creek” first broke onto the Emmy radar in 2019 with bids for series, actor, actress and costumes. Even though it went home empty-handed that year, the show still had one final season to prove its worth.

The 2020 Emmy nominees have been announced, and Schitt's Creek is finally getting the love it deserves. The Canadian sitcom nabbed a total of 15 (!) nominations for its sixth and final season, with Catherine O'Hara, Annie Murphy, Dan Levy, and Eugene Levy each earning nods for their Rose family roles. We'll raise a glass of Herb Ertlinger fruit wine to that - but no guarantee we'll actually be gagging down all of said glass.
The hilarious and heartwarming Pop TV series scored its first four Emmy nominations last year, although it didn't wind up taking home any golden trophies during the show - and this year marks its last chance to secure one. Moira Rose did say her favorite season is award season, so here's to hoping that helps O'Hara finally get the win she's undoubtedly earned for portraying the beloved Jazzagal with a profound vocabulary and puzzling accent.

And so the calendar closes on yet another TV year. As critics start to assemble year-end best lists and look forward to what the next 12 months might have in store, there’s still a final flurry of new original programming to sift through before 2018 fades away.
Per usual, these are spread out across broadcast, cable, and subscription services, this time with an extra peppering of original films debuting on TV airtime. With plenty of other options to juggle as 2018 closes, allow this one final collection to cap off the bunch.
(We do this roundup of new shows pretty much every month — if you missed any of those previous picks, here are some notable TV premieres from February, March, April, May, June, July, August, October, November, and our giant fall preview.)

My Top Ten Oscar® Submissions for Best Foreign Language Film includes Darkest Horse: from Slovakia, ‘The Line’You know how, when you finally see a movie you really love, all things seem possible? How a great movie transports you to a new reality? Without that experience, normal life seems drab and dreary unless you use other means of transcendance, like hope, art, music, dancing, religion or drugs.
Have I yet raved about any of the 25 foreign language submissions?
Yes, but it was a long time ago when it won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, that I was so enamoured Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi’s Of Body and Soul (as I was with her previous film, the 1989 Cannes Film Festival Camera d’or winner, My Twentieth Century, which was seen by about a .02% of the population). Holiday episodes are rarely a show’s best, but they’re often the most enduring. CBS still airs a colorized version of the “I Love Lucy” Christmas episode, repackaged as a perennial special, 60 years later. The image of The Fonz eating out of a can, alone on Christmas Eve, is probably one of the best-remembered scenes from “Happy Days.” And “The West Wing’s” 1999 episode “In Excelsis Deo” not only won an Emmy, but its takes on homeless veterans and hate crimes are just as relevant today, nearly two decades later. And of course, it was a Christmas episode that launched the longest-running scripted series in primetime, “The Simpsons,” all the way back in 1989.
As the networks more wholeheartedly embrace the holidays as a marketing tool, there has been an explosion in Christmas-themed movies and specials in recent years. But there’s still something special about celebrating the holidays with...

Official Oscar® Submission for Best Foreign Language Film from Austria: ‘Happy Ending’ by Michael Haneke“All around us, the world, and we, in its midst, blind.”The Laurent Family in ‘Happy Ending’A snapshot from the life of a bourgeois European family.
What is Michael Haneke’s vision in this film? We have seen his take on the young Adonises in Funny Games, the most devastating picture of modern sociopathology I have ever seen. And his view of the pathological origin of fascism in The White Ribbon, of the political scandal of the police mass murder and civilians turning a blind eye to the plight of Algerians in France in Cache, on sexual pathology run amock in The Piano Teacher.
Happy Ending features the best actors of a generation and of Haneke’s films, Isabelle Huppert (The Piano Teacher), Jean-Louis Trintignant who played the same character in Amour, is now shown from another angle,...

The Performer | Ilana Glazer
The Show | Broad City
The Episode | “Witches” (Oct. 25, 2017)
The Performance | Let’s see, how do we phrase this delicately? Glazer delivered a rather, um, explosive performance this week, as her TV alter ego rediscovered a certain, ah, satisfaction that had thus far eluded her in our post-Trump America.
Glazer has always been an absolute comedy dynamo as the mischievous, impulse-driven Ilana — if they gave out Emmys for comedy duos, she and co-star Abbi Jacobson would have several by now — but she was uncharacteristically muted at the start of this week’s episode. Turns out Ilana was secretly seeing a sex therapist,...

Of all the dysfunctional relationships on How to Get Away With Murder — and there are many — it might be Annalise and Bonnie’s that tops the Most Messed-Up list.
As we are reminded in a series of flashbacks in Thursday’s episode, we’ve watched Annalise and her former colleague go through all sorts of emotional dynamics in the last three years: Bonnie begging Annalise not to fire her after it was revealed she had kissed Annalise’s husband; Annalise fiercely reassuring Bonnie that she does love her; Bonnie and Annalise sharing a lip-lock of their own when Annalise was particularly drunk one night.

Someone contact the people at Guinness, because Thursday’s episode of Scandal had to have set a new record for the highest number of sexual interruptions in a single hour of television.

The first interruption came immediately, with Olivia taking Curtis back to her apartment — only to discover Fitz standing at her door. (For those keeping score at home, this is the third week in a row that we’ve been subjected to this awkward encounter, thanks to the magic of time jumps.

Ray Donovan has been renewed — and, more importantly, relocated.
Showtime announced Monday that it is bringing the Liev Schreiber fixer drama back for a sixth season, but that’s only half the story. The more interesting news is that after five years in Los Angeles the series is shifting its setting to New York City.
The 12-episode, Big Apple-set season will begin production in early 2018 and debut later that year.
The renewal comes just days before Ray Donovan airs its Season 5 finale (Sunday, 9/8c), an episode that was partially shot in NYC.

After watching this first full trailer for Showtime’s Smilf, we kind of can’t blame Connie Britton’s Ally for wanting to be BFFs with Frankie Shaw’s Bridgette: From the looks of tthings, Bridgette is a rather awesome hot mess.

The Cannes Film Festival starts this week, which means it’s time for a slew of out-of-context film clips to begin filtering out into the web. Welcome to the “huge party” of Cannes 70. If the Official Selection this year is a “lab”, the formula isn’t quite complete - Thierry Fremaux announced 18 films which will compete for the Palme D’Or today, implying that three have yet to arrive (he also hinted that a glaring absence, that of a film from China for the second consecutive year, may yet be rectified; nothing was said however about the absence of a major Hollywood studio thus far).
