I'd seen Jude Perl on stage a number of times and was aware of how accomplished a cabaret performer she was. So I had high expectations when I heard about the web series. They were more than satisfied. This is really smart and funny stuff and the songs work a treat. The direction is polished and slick and it's refreshing to see an Australian comedy show where actors don't play comedy with a capital 'C'. Jude is great as a hapless singer/songwriter forced to write jingles for a living, and Bert La Bonte, as her duplicitous boss is worth a spin-off series of his own. Highly recommended. Hopefully there will be another series soon.
Loved this ride. Jude Perl and Bert LaBonte shine in this hysterical web series.
Every episode surprises with great musical numbers and satirical humour. The choreography is wonderful and includes homages to the grand traditions of hollywood musicals as well as contemporary pop videos.
The production design is stunning and delightfully surprising.
The direction is seamless and take this series to a level well above the usual web fare.
If you like Flight of the Concords, or in fact just good, orginal comedy, with great music, you'll be thrilled with SugarHope Records.
Watch to the end, it's worth it!
