Well, truth be told, then I wasn't really harboring much of any expectations to the 2016 movie "Dolly Deadly" from writers Heidi Moor and Cassandra Sechler. Why? Well, I had never heard about the movie, and its cover and its synopsis wasn't really particularly impressive. But I do believe in giving a movie a fair chance, so of course I opted to watch "Dolly Deadly".
Well, a whole staggering 25 minutes of the 85 minutes running time. This movie was just atrociously bad. It felt like it was written by a preschooler for a show and tell project. The storyline was just downright bland and mediocre, but the acting is what killed off the movie for me. Justin Moore (playing Benji) actually put on the most impressive performance in this movie, and we are talking about a child actor outclassing all the adults here.
Visually then I will say that "Dolly Deadly" was somewhat of an acquired taste. This is not your average mainstream movie, so that at least counted for something. But the movie was just never off to a flying start, given the lousy writing and the terrible acting.
The whole movie just oozed with an amateurish feel, and it is not something I enjoy when I sit down to watch a movie. I am sure that those involved were having a blast making "Dolly Deadly", but I sat down to be entertained, which didn't happen here.
My rating of "Dolly Deadly" lands on a one out of ten stars.
